PS. after transferring to IPad-3 and iOS-6 the game started to retard a little bit, the landscape showing not instantly, as it was before....

Don't know about your webmaster issue but I just transferred the game to an iPad3 with iOS6 and it runs much slower than my iPad2. Collecting is now a pain in the a** because sometimes I have to tap a building 4 or 5 times before the game responds.

Bought my BD10 upgrade! Level 86. Thanks to zillions of folks with uncollected manors and silos :)
I noticed several rivals that could stomp me, but mostly they left me alone or didn't notice me.
One dude though, coming up in level 85, says on his wall that his job is to clean out folks
trying to do BD upgrades... so I was motivated to finish before he saw me.

Nice one steve, Hopefully the BD cleaner doesn't discourage too many people. It's disgusting that someone would make that their primary goal.

Can u drop a hint as to his ID with A/D stats? Maybe a return stomping on the bully might can his behavior.
Any other takers?

 i got the game like 2 days ago and i have no clue what i'm doing but i can tell you raiding is not my thing. i always chose the worst possible opponents and most of my income comes from being raided. i came back to it after school today and i got over 500 gold from failed raids on my settlement.

Welcome to the forum, Turtles. Start your upgrade of your vault now, and always have it upgrading until it is at it's max level. Also, there are HUNDREDS of posts in this forum for different strategies, ideas and well run trials of how to start the game off and build up your kingdom.
My suggestion is to take about 30 minutes or so and start reading up through the beginner's guide, the first bits and the more recent ones for greats tips.
Otherwise, good luck!

I suggest dont get to crazy levelling up. Just like Legend mentioned, vault, upgrade your income and defense and start reading all the tips and strategies from other players. Read about events and how it can benefit you especially at the earliest stage of the game(winning indestructible units through Boss Events and Box events). Yeah I wish I knew about the forum back when I started. Having Dragons as your main army is key. Plan ahead.

Awesome... If you find him, let me know. Based on Steve's infi, you're below his level and I'm above bracketing him nicely. I will camp unless the current event makes me level up...

Thanks for all of the tips guys! and i didn't even need to ask! For the most part i've been doing well because i got a unit from the daily scratch thing on my first day of playing and it had almost 30 attack and over thirty defense. I have been upgrading my vault every chance i got (like you guys have suggested) , i have also been buying every money gaining building i could. So thank you guys. but i have a problem with leveling up because i get too eager for dragons whenever i see this thread. that is one thing to look forward to in this game that i have found out about.

Just don't get too eager! It will take quite awhile to build up enough economy to save up the 1.9million (without lumber mill). So just focus on upgrading economy and make sure you set some goals. Like people have probably said, search the forums, check out the beginners guide, maybe take a look at the excel sheet to check out the money buildings and how much they cost and what the upgrade prices/times are. That way you can plan out what you want to do exactly and once you have a goal set you just want to reach that goal!

I probably should stop upgrading what the quests tell me to upgrade then. I should probably work on my own agenda right? I think maybe if i stay back at level eight for now i'll get a lot done and then be able to kill every one of the people on the same level, then get to getting dragons in a matter of days after finishing my base preparation. It will probably take a while before i get dragons anyway so it might be best if i stay back a little just so i don't rush into people with 5000 attack and defense when i only have barely over 100 attack and defense. thanks again. wow the people on these boards are nice. i think with all of these tips i can be successful and get those dragons too.

Dont level up too fast. This is one of the few things if I had chance I would have changed.
IMHO allocating skill points to attack and defence isnt the effective way of using this downplayed feature of the game. If I had a way to redistribute these I would've allocated 40% to Hero Strength, 30% to Stamina, 15% to Attack and 15% to Defense.
Economy, economy, economy and more economy. Having level 10 BD isnt gonna automatically raise your attack/defense stat. Dragons costs 13k a piece, if you do not have the propper economy to ensure your constant breeding then your den is useless, isn't it? Trust me with gold you'll never have enough even when you have a over 20K IPH (Income Per Hour).
But camping isnt all that boring, but again to each his own.
If you can afford it buy some gems.
Have a good one.

Well you can't get dragons until level 50. At level 8 you should try and get your silos up to level 10 and maybe taverns up to level 10 as well because they will contribute to real income versus getting your cottages up because realistically you aren't going to collect every 5-6 minutes. Tailors will also help at that level. Once you have your silos and taverns high you can maybe get your siege workshop to 10 for flaming catapults and your magic academy to level 8 to buy defence units.

Just got attacked by a guy who sold his BD10 two weeks ago by accident!
He's been rebuilding it. After I stopped laughing, I told him to contact support. He had it back to 8, so I told him to spend his 3M on another 230 Dragons once it was back. He has 908 already. Strongest attack I've seen at lvl 95, but his defense is low enough to put him in reach. I was ready to take a few rounds out of him, then help him out, then I read his wall.
Poor guy. To sweat that out twice!

Finally after much camping and growing and pulling out my Dragon beard, I bought my BD10 upgrade. Now I’m level 74, my record is only 593 win and 83 lose, and 358 raids so much of this was done from IPH collecting and Maps, (apologies to those attacked and raided in last day).
Lessons learned for those that prefer to not pillage and steal money from others to get this done;
1st - Allies are key, who you have befriended especially those that do enjoy a good foray hourly diminishes the chance you become their next target. One must be vigil and stay active, keep on lookout for potential marauders, turn to your side if they can be thru one of your mutual allies…. Or avoid them no unnecessary posts to add as ally.
2nd – Defense, if you enjoy hiding under rocks make sure it’s a big rock. I choose to go HP strategy and for most part it helped fend off all the little raiders, but there are always some that you’re like “I’m going to need a bigger rock” (refer to 1st point).
3rd – IPH & Lumber mill, In the world of the passive adventurers like myself, it helps to have a steady cash flow and bring down cost of building construction.
Thanks to all that supported me :)

add me the dragon breeder club as well. (well, about noon tomorrow I'll have my first dragons hatching, anyway)
I actually started the run from BD8 to BD10 because a while back I saw a post from Tiki saying that once she hit lvl 111 she started getting hit by players up in the 160's...
I didnt want the heart attack of sweating out a BD10 run in whale territory, and I was at lvl 108, so I went ahead and started it then, working to get the gold before I leveled up too much.
it took me 2-3 weeks, but I got both upgrades done and now I'm just waiting until tomorrow for the upgrade to complete.
looking back I probably should have camped at lvl 99 or something to stay in the lower boss event brackets, etc, but I have a hard time camping, lol.
now it's time to hand out a little revenge on a few players who had worse stats than me but I think tried to take a shot at my unvaulted gold.
thanks to the 3 players who allied with me after taking some of my gold... they could have kept hitting me but graciously moved on.

I just started my BD10 upgrade, six days after completing BD9. I started the breeding den upgrades as soon as I leveled up to 50 during the last boss event, but I had been preparing for it for a while and came into the process with 1.3 million on hand and an IPH of a little over 10k (most of it effective, as it comes from 12, 24, and 48 buildings). I managed to do the 1 through 9 upgrades one after the other thanks to my savings and what I earned along the way from my economy (no raids or attacks to raise my profile), but had to cool my heels while the gold stockpiled for the past few days for the final upgrade. I have to say, doing it at level 50 was fairly anticlimactic given what I've read here about players in the higher brackets, where it's much more of a challenge. It goes without saying that I am at full allies with full HPs. Soon I will unleash the flying flamers... Wait, that sounds really, really wrong...

I thought level 10 manor upgrade was 22 mil?
Edit: and while we are talking about upgrading manors to 10, I have two level 4 manors and a level 5 and level 6 lender. I am debating whether to focu just on the manors or do the lenders too, but the level5 manors output 120k every two days vs 29k for a level7 lender. The manor upgrades cost more, but 60k a day (120k in two days) sounds better to me than 30k per day. thoughts?

Well there is an 800k difference in the upgrade cost (1.95m for level 5 manor and 1.1m for level 7 lenders) So now the question is whether you need the instant ROI or if you have the patience to wait two weeks to have a greater return. I personally would stop with the lenders at level 6 for now and focus on manors because it gives a greater output hourly or daily or however you want to look at it.

That is what I am thinking. Also, I figure the lenders are much cheaper to upgrade than the manors so it might be better to do the manors while I am not getting attacked at the lower levels. Have a little over a mill on hand right now and should have the rest by Tuesday at the latest to start a level 5 manor. One of these days I am going to have to break down and buy some weapons and armor to boost my defense for my BD10 run.

Considering the loot you have received from the boss events, that should more than compensate for your lack of weaps/armor. I was able to make my BD10 run with hundreds upon hundreds of the equipment that costs 30 gold or less, so considering your stockpile of boss loot you should be fine. And for the whole Lender vs. Manor thing, you'll be glad you upgraded the Manors once you start buying Dragons on the regular.

Yeah doing it at a low level is probably the best plan, and then it will greatly help you with your BD10 run. If you can get both to level 5 then it would be a fantastic help during the run.

My goal is to have both level 6 or at least a 6 and a 7 and get my other lender to 6 before hitting level 51 and going into camper mode until BD10 is done. We shall see if I can get that done.

Yeah, if all goes to plan I will be able to buy 30 dragons every two days off just the manors. The weapons and armor deal is just something I've been meaning to work on and just havent got around to it yet. I have seen a few of you guys kingdoms with tons of mail crushers and other nice weapons and stuff that I would really like to buy. Guess I will just have to wait till I reach full army of the dragons. That way I will only need to buy more when I level up and can use that gold to buy heavybattleaxes and armor

Thanks guys for clarifying that's not 10m for level 10 manor. I was thinking that wasn't right anyway. I used to think to upgrade my manors but since got my BD and BK to level 10 I gave up of the idea. My main targets at the moment are: 1. Get my 1500 dragons as quick as possible; 2. To upgrade my Healing Temple to lvl10.
I know some will say if I had manors 4 or 5 would help but its ok. I like the challenge to attack as many rivals as I can. That keeps me going on the game as there isnt much happening lately.

Similar strategy here.
I have just under 400 dragons, and my Water Temple is up to lvl 9. Beast Kennel at 4.
Since getting BD10, my plan has been plan has been to ONLY do lost cost upgrades, so I can pump as much as possible into my dragon army. So for now.. I'm holding off on those higher cost upgrades.
One benefit of this is that I get stronger and stronger for each boss event.
Right now I'm camping at lvl 95 so I can milk the boss events before advancing past lvl 100.

I know I'm late to the party but I will be joining the dragon club in about 45 hrs or so!
Thank you everyone for all the pointers especially to Bea.
I'm @ Level 111-- started @ 74K attack & 82K def. (which went down to 72K & 80K respectively after relentless robbing & attacking) Also, had to sell one of my level 2 manors just so I didn't have to sweat out the last 200G's or so.
For some reason it only took me 3 days to get to 1.8 Mil & didnt get attacked once on the way there. I had more of a problem saving for BD 9 as njwmrb and a few others kept stealing my $$. Lol
Thanks again to everyone who set the blueprint on how to accomplish this difficult but very rewarding goal!!!

I'm not completely convinced of this advice. Doing a BD10 run for most people means quite a bit of raiding to boost the cash, and I have to say that for me level 10 silos and taverns are like raid-magnets. On the other hand, rivals that have level 5 everything are much less attractive. The payout for raiding a level 5 building (not counting manors and lenders of course) is barely worth the energy and XP.
So comparing the strategy of levelling a few buildings to 10 versus levelling all building to 5 is not that obvious.

Celebrated the newly boosted Dragons with a fresh batch of 5 more.
105 just sounds so much more destructive than a mere 70.

But it's not terribly difficult to collect the 12/24 hr buildings on time either, which doesn't make them a raid target anymore. Everyone has their own strategy deciding what money buildings better suit their playing style though. I'm all about the long-term 12/24/48 hr ones myself.

So finally, this morning at 1 am i finally started to level the building to lvl 10 to get my dragons.
It was pretty challenging as my lvl is 121 (free player) and some big guns visited me from time to time. Some of them were nice and either became my allies or promised not to attack me while i finish, but some of them were not nice at all, but okay, this is life
With continious PVP it was easy to get daily 700k money.
So now back to PVE

@Leappy: Congrats :)
People who get their BD10 at high levels do deserve a good pat on their backs on a job well done.
I'm finally making my run for BD10. I got my defense to 41k at lvl 61, then yesterday I get boosted stats and I'm right at 60k. I'm ~420k towards BD8. $8k+ iph and I haven't been attacked for about 2 weeks. It seemed like the time to go for it.

Good luck gff. Hopefully your run goes smoothly
Thanks. I hope so too! I've spent the last week or so checking out the stats of people in my attack list and I didn't find anyone with an attack number higher than my defense, but I'm sure that when I get to carrying over $1mill, someone will find me and tell their buddies. I'm only at 34k Attack (boosted), so if they do find me, I'll toss everything I can into Flaming Trebuchets/Basalisks or expensive armor and camp until they pass me by, then start again.

Don't panic the first time you get hit. Try to ally with them first. Often they feel bad after and will add you. Worst case scenario you lose a second 100k and then you turtle. Then you don't lose days of saving up.

Whew, am I glad that is over! BD10 just completed, and I hatched a few dragons. Leveled up to 137 just before starting the BD10 upgrade, so it was quite the challenge. It obviously would've been easier to do closer to level 50 (didn't think I'd ever stand a chance of saving $1.7MM even with lvl 10 Lumber Mill), but my quest was aided by 1,000+ High Priests, adding ~320 Hydras once BD8, and an IPH of ~$12,000. Stats at time of BD10 upgrade were ~103k A / ~122k D (boosted).
Thanks to everyone on the forums for your tips and tricks. Sold both level 1 manors on each of the upgrades for BD8, 9 and 10, so I'll be glad not to have to "waste" that gold again.
I was hit by a few players on the run for BD9, so thank you to those who allied, and a SPECIAL THANKS to my forum and in-game friends who "persuaded" a certain relentless attacker who won $600k+ from me and refused to ally despite my humble pleas.

Howdy All. Just thought I'd let you know I finished off my BD10 run last week to join the club -- and hatched 100 little baby dragons. I was hit unsuccessfully several times along the way by lower stat players just hoping they would get luck I guess -- 1.5 million unvaulted will have that effect. Also got hit by one player who took 200K, who refused to ally. I can only assume he intended to come back for more. So I levelled up to get out of his range and finished off the run. Apologies to all the silos, manors and lenders I had to raid along the way.
Current stats:
Level 76
Attack/defence 69K/80K
IPH - $7200

Bd10 run begins at midnight with upgrade to level 2. Had to postpone it a few days to upgrade my second manor to 5. Hoped to have at least one level 6 manor before starting but messed up my timing by gaining experience chasing that pesky bonus dragon in the box event. Never received the dragon either! Oh well. Hopefully 10 days and I will join the club

Best of luck Albeezy! Sorry I abandoned you guys to go for Vallata. The unit just looked too good to refuse and I loved the event as it didn't require many gems at all.
I'll be on BD9 in the morning and ill be hitting BD10 hopefully not too long after finishing 9. Although I'm cautious about pushing myself up to level 62, if I can pump those Dragons out and not move levels till you guys catch back up to me then ill be satisfied with the decision.

After my dragon army is assembled I am going to work on a full compliment of heavy battleaxes too. Need to stop neglecting my weapons and armor. I finally started my upgrade to BD10!!!!! My nerves couldn't go the whole way and I sold my manors to do it, but in a little over 44 hours, I'll get my first baby dragon! 10 took me about 10 days to save up for -- and my only attacks came early, which was kinda disheartening, but the attackers either allied with me, or promised safe passage to 10. I swear, of all the games, KA truly has the nicest players. Well, except Sir Eric, who finally leveled past me, but would attack me every few days and wouldn't ally. I hope to see him again... especially since he was dragonless!
YL, Blacknight and Blobby -- ya'll are awesome. Thank you so very very much for everything. I love my boys.

I think I got pretty lucky. I made it at level 50 with 26 allies. My density was pretty good I think, 265A/302D. I got hit hard a few times, but never had any repeat visitors. Two guys managed to take me for $200k but they never returned. My effective IPH was about $5200. As I got close though, I decided selling my manors and my lenders was a wiser strategy. It would only take a few days to replace them and the risk if the wrong person found me wasn't worth it

It has begun! I'm on the final upgrade of my beast den. Looking forward to breeding the little critters.
Lvl 9 cost me 1.15 million and the final 10 cost me 1.65. Fortunately I received a stack of gold through raiding, the box event and killing high level units to get to level 62 to receive the Vallata.
The Vallata will be the mother of my dragon army...hey come to think of it, I've just thought of an awesome idea.
They should bring in the ability to breed various dragons with varying combinations that you have in your inventory such as unique dragons like the Vallata. Imagine for instance breeding the Vallata with the Ash dragon. You could even breed dragons with varied stats depending on the dragons you have in your inventory.
This could help to balance out the stats in the long run. Half your dragon army could be bread for attacking via breeding higher attacking dragons together, and the other half of your army could be focused on defence stats via breeding higher defensive dragons together I personally would love to be able to breed my own unique dragons. These dragons would also take on the image of their parents so new dragon graphics would be used.
What's your thoughts?

Cheers mate! 17 hours to go!
Yeah, but I'm thinking a little differently to MQs fusing. Breeding dragons would allow you to buy that special unique breed with in-game gold to your hearts content. Once you've bread it, at a cost of 50 gems, you can pump them put to your hearts content.
This would help people make different decisions in the later game...which we all now is dead atm.
It would cost gems to do it.
Yep I'm happy with that. 50 gems per breeding program. Select breeding combination and watch them grow. This would breathe life back into the game for people who have their dragon armies. It would also get people more involved in events as they would want to pick up a new dragon to breed with a unique dragon they already have in their inventory.

I decided that other people were also potentially hurting after the 600 PVP battle event so I figured it was worth a shot to start saving. my IPH is only 6916 so I had to do some other 'fund raising.' I went on a rampage attacking others in the area, couldn't find any cheaters, and only people with 60ish K unbanked, mostly I was attacking buildings. well I FINALLY got up to 1.7M and hit build on the BD10... my dragon army will be starting in 45 hours, I am a happy camper!

Had to wait 4 days or so to save up the rest of the 1.7M for BD10. Was attacked once since starting and that was 2 hours ago. They lost! Last successful attack on me was 38 days ago.

Awesome! I wish I could get money that fast and have a path that easy.
I'm at 9.6k IPH with both bazaars at 10, MC's at 4, cottages at 6, farms at 10. Leatherworkers are at 5, Inns are at 5, Lenders are at 4, Manors at 2 and 1 - others are scattered. I bring this up because I keep reading about people that post about collecting BD10 money in a few days, and this just isn't even possible for me. With my collection frequency (max of 4-6 times a day), my effective IPH drops a bit, but I collect the 12/24/48 buildings when they are ready.
It's still going to take me about 9-12 days to get to get what I need for BD10 with just collections, and I like to lay low while I'm OV.

I have Inns at 10, Lenders at 4 and 1, Manors at 2, and Letherworkers at 10's, I figured since I collect 4-6 times a day I would focus on longer lead time IPH areas, but raiding really helped in securing the money in 1-2 days instead of a week, all it takes is one high attack player hunting you to F up your strategy. Now that I am on BD 10 and raising dragons, I will be working on MC's to 10, since I will have many days needed to build up an army and wanting to invest minimal amounts of $$ to upgrades, it seems like the perfect time, plus with hourly events going on more regularly, I am more apt to collect up to 10+ times a day and the MC's can really pay off if collecting 4+ times a day.

I login about once every hour and half to two hours if not more and each time collect about 6k or more from the 1 and 3 hour buildings. It really helps. i always say if you need to make money faster login more frequently and boost those 1 hour buildings. Its a pain in the ass, but once you start collecting enough to get the manors and lender bumped up a bit, you can login less frequently

Level 98, I JUST began upgrading from BD9 to BD10. The treacherous road to BD10 is finally over. I was attacked many many times but I was lucky enough that I'm full on HighPriests (96500 def). I got lucky and was able to defend one attacker who had 105k attack and then he asked to be allies. I'm also very grateful that one player with attack of 130k left me alone and instead, he cheered me on to hit BD10 as he knew how hard of a road it was to get there.
To gather the gold needed, I had to do a lot of raiding and attacking. I started with 98k attack but with so many units getting killed in battle, I'm now at 75k attack. It's costed me a lot of flaming catapults to get me to BD10 but it will pay off in the end. WOOOOOT

LOL. It's been 8 days since my BD10 was complete. I'm at 145 dragons. (see sig) But, I'm finding that if I scope out my clientele (Yes, I have a physical piece of paper with names on it) and hit them, I can grab 5 dragons per 2 hours or so. I'm about to significantly step up my raiding game.
About this list: I have people designated for buildings (great $ kingdoms; Manors, Lenders & Gold mines) and those I've caught over vault. I pay attention to Breeding Den level; all the level 7-8-9 are great for over vault as they are prepping, mid run or almost there. :)
=========
I only have 15 stamina and catching the right person way over vault is (9,900 gold x 15) = 148,500
130,000 for 10 dragons...and some residual savings...wait 45 minutes and go back on the prowl.

I have found myself doing similar, paying attention to names of people with a level 8-9 BD... also hitting people with higher attack then my defense hoping they attack me back if they have great buildings and not a level 10 BD, because I know if they attack me, they aren't going to get much of anything, but they will be on my list for a long time to come, and when they go over vault I will be watching :)

You win some, you lose some. I lose a dragon but earn enough to buy 5-10? Then worth it. Since I made that post, I've bought 13 dragons. ;) Play hard, win hard.

I just finished my level 9 Breeding den and it was just a shade over a million and my Level 10 looked like it was going to be 1.8 million. And that is with a level 6 Lumber Mill. Collecting that 1.8 is going to take a little bit but I can't wait!

I am hoping to start BD9 tomorrow night. Will need to be very successful raiding between now and then to get the million plus needed. But the last few events unfortunately leveled me all the way to 105 and I need to get cracking! That's good to hear. I would say I am in the top 5% of my level, maybe even top 3% (level 105, 123.4k/123.5k A/D). I think I'm just nervous because I had 2 BD8 runs destroyed before I could get one off. He's my ally now (and on this board which is cool! :) ) But as we know, there is a LOT more money to be accumulated over vault for BD9, and it will be over vault probably 1.5-2 days for me to get enough.
I have been proactive in seeking out those stronger than me and sending ally requests with nice notes. At least 2 have accepted. :) So I guess I'm as prepared as I can be at my level.

when i was at your lvl before the ltq i could see down to 140 allies, and im always full-allied, i would ally-up to get as strong as possible, and just be active on your rival-list, ally everyone that can breach your defence, in my mind the only way to go.... good luck!

As someone who successfully attacked you before (were now allies) I can tell you at full allies i was able to see you. Bump up your allies and invest more in defence. I really think with the boosted stats your def should be near 80k at your level. I did my run around the same level as you and thats what it took for me. I still got attacked once but was able to recover

Hi Bgood and Eiz,
Thanks for the reply. I'll do an attempt by adding more allies. I was really thinking max out ppl couldn't see me, but apparently i'm wrong. That explains a lot already... i'm fighting with an half army against full armies.
FYI: I got already full army of highest def units possible (hydra's) and my armor and weapons are not that bad neither. So i think i would be able to increase my stats (with 190 allies) maybe to 60-65k, but that's it. For sure, when going to 500 allies it will almost double i guess, but then i fear to get hit by the BD10 owners more.
Let's give it a try :).
PS: My IPH is about 11.5k, so that is also acceptable i think.

UP your allies is the best advice here. Save up for a week and invest in quality units (High Priests, maaaaybe). Trust me when I tell you...I would have no problem doing BD10 again. THERE is almost noone WITH it where I'm at. Maybe a handful. Don't get too scared, it's nothing.

While Johnny is right that you can get 3 hp's for one hydra you have to factor in the fact that high ATT strength is a deterent to some players who can poke through defence yet you can hit them. It wont deter them all but it will on some. I had an all HP's and then bought hydras and got about half way filled with hydras before I made my run. Like I said I think 80k+ off and def is a good number to be at I think. Then i'd check ally list and try to ally with as many people with dragons as possible. Make your run during the start of a work week (avoid holiday weeks) there is less risk...raid like a fiend. If you were at my level i'd offer you some protection so its just advice for now

I made the run at level 120. 85k atk/85 def...some fool that I raided over vault saw my bank and got all crazy, started attacking me and losing. Either way, it was unsettling and it got me all bugged out. But still didn't lose a single piece of ggold for BD9 or BD10.
====
I guess I should also add that I didn't even follow my own advice. Except for the no buying of additional Hydras. Once I got the allies up, up and up, I never bought another unit again. I was bringing the crappiest units to play during raids and attacks.

Started a tentative effort last night for a BD10 run. Work takes me away for about 10 hours a day so it is a bit unsettling to not be able and check in and see if I've been raided or not. Hope to get about 50% of the way there by Friday and then use the weekend to raid away and see if I can't make it over the top. If not, back to building stats and IPH for the next attempt.

For those still under or at level 50, here is what you can work towards by building your BD10 at level 50 and buying dragons. Not the best, but having purchased only 1 vault of gold for use on boss events from level 37 until now here is my stats:
http://i10.servimg.com/u/f10/17/56/93/28/pictur11.jpg (http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=127&u=17569328)
I have 407 dragons out of a possible 837 units brought to battle. I could add some allies too. I doubt more than 700 of the 837 units brought to battle will be dragons by the time I am at full dragon army due to boss event units and other units won (e.g., the units from the recent limited quests). Should be pushing 110k attack when done at least by adding another 300 dragons and going max allies. Oh and I need to upgrade my boost buildings too!
When I started buying dragons my attack was around 60k. The unfortunate part is that only rares from boss events will make it into your army (darn you DONNER!) and my luck in boss event has faded. I used to get at least 4 every boss event and now I am lucky to get 2 (again darn you DONNER). However, the limited quests may be my new boss event preference as I received more A/D from the 40LTQ than the previous 2 boss events combined. Good luck to those of you at the higher levels going for BD10s!

I went all the way to level 37 before stopping at boss 38. I was super frustrated. Funny thing is the latest LTQ netted me the equivalent of 10 rare boss drops and I only made it through level 27 (the angel something or other). I gained a lot of XP, but at the rate rares are dropping for me in boss events these days it was a much better deal. Just glad I am not theOneNOnly person that couldnt get the last rare to complete the set.
Oh and I got a glitch unit that I never heard back on in my ticket...

Hi Zenobia :) I'll send you an invite, too, from Clementine, lvl102.
For me, BD9 was worse than saving for BD10. I got attacked a few times going for BD9 & to counter the threats, I bought Hydras until my stats were 95+K & upgraded boost buildings until I felt ready. Getting your allies up to max is good advice. I have almost max allies & can see down to 140ish, so there is really no hiding.
Also, to reply in-game, use your wall, not the news feed. If you reply from the news, you will reply to your own wall. Sometimes you have to exit out & back in for a message to post to your wall.

Hi P4TR1C14N - I'll send you an invite, too, but we might be allied already :)
If I I were you, I'd max up allies & buy Hydras with everything over vault, like I said above to Zenobia. Your stats would deter more rivals from attacking you if you had the max or almost max. Sometimes, rivals don't look at ally count as much as stats & you wouldn't want a weaker rival to get a lucky hit on you, kwim?
Best of luck to both of you!! You can do it!
100% Free player here. I got my BD 10 a couple of weeks ago. I thought I'd share how I did it.
First time I tried was with low allies, mid-90s level. This got nowhere. Even with a good economy (level 2 manors, level 8 playhouses, level 5 lenders, level 10 silos and castle, level 10 lumber mill) I couldn't even save up the 600k needed for BD 8. Each time I'd hit 500k I'd get ransacked. After having read the forum postings, I decided that full ally/full HP was the way to go.
As I built up my allies and HP army, I also upgraded my MCs to level 8 and level 5. These gave a huge boost to IPH for little investment. I soon noticed I wasn't being attacked or raided so I saved up for BD 8 without a hitch. By this point, my defense was about 90k, and I had held off on PVE and PVP so I would not level up or lose HPs when I raided.
My first attempt at the 1M needed for BD 9 came up short. I reached about 700k, started getting attacked, and decided to boost my economy some more. So I upgraded my two manors to level 3. Around this time, I also discovered (thanks again to some forum posts) that there were some glitched mobs that dropped high-level equipment 100% of the time, so I took advantage and did some PVE until they fixed the glitch. This took me over level 100, into the low 100s. This turned out to be key.
There seem to be a lot fewer high-gem players in the low 100s. A lot of them camp in the high 90s to take advantage of the boss event tiers, but once they go over 100, their incentive is just to level up quickly. So, if you haven't taken the Albeezy route of camping at 50 (which is probably the best way to do it, if a bit boring), I would camp in the low 100s for your BD 10 run.
At this point, I made it to BD 9 without a single attack. My IPH was now about 12k. While I was saving up for the 1M needed, I'd just do really short term upgrades, which meant that I fully upgraded my cottages and some of the other cheap buildings.
My first run at BD 10 took too much time. I hit about 1.1M and got a repeat customer who would take out 150-200k at a time (which was about what I made in a day from collections). I decided I needed to do raiding as well, to reduce the amount of time I spent overvault. So I bought 1500 catapults to protect my HPs, and as soon as I was overvault again, I started raiding relentlessly.
This went better--I made it to about 1.3M before I started getting raided again. I also was having HPs die, so I cashed out, got a level 4 manor, and prepared another run. After one more failed attempt (which got me a level 6 lender), I made it to 1.5M, which was just after a collection from my big 48 hour buildings. At this point, I did not want to walk away empty-handed again, but was not sure if I'd go another 24 hours without being attacked. I thought about spending $20 on coins, but decided I'd rather stay a 100% free player. Spending money would just lessen the challenge. So I sold my level 5 lender for the last 250k I needed. Sure enough, I was raided the next morning by a heavy gem-spender, so I was glad I sold it. I re-built it right away, and will upgrade it back in no time.
Since then, I've been steadily growing my dragon army (260 and counting) and upgrading my water temple (now level 9) and beast kennel (now level 6). My attack is now about 72k, up from the 50k when I did my BD 10 run. I've also noticed, now that I've leveled up to 118, that there is a lot more raiding despite my high defense (now about 95k). I find a lot more players with BD10 and a lot of heavy gem spenders.
Making it to BD 10 required a great deal of patience and strategy. I'm not sure there's another challenge like it in this game, and I will probably take a break from it for a while. But I hope my experience is useful to some others on the forum. I found the forum posts very helpful and would encourage others to read through them. Best of luck.

have to agree with AAC , iam in the same boat now and have noticed a big drop in getting hit once i got to LVL 102 so now its the time with Xmas over and have since been getting my H/P to a good amount and increase my IPH now with 2 level 2 Manors collect on time evrytime with split collects 1 in the morning 1 in the arvo along with others i collect
plus i have Wine maker and Gold Mine to add to it, i was buying Ballisic but loose to many have now switched over to Flamming Cats, so am at a good A/D now with better Defence than Attack ( i have seen others with higher attack than defence ??) so will start my run Monday.

Starting my BD10 run.
Seems like it's going to be an easy one... I'm in my low 50's, and am holding to a few millions for quite some time now.
Haven't lost a battle in months as no one on my list can beat me (have added a few players who've achieved BD10 already, and most of them were weaker back then).
Seems like it's going to be a smooth run.

WHEW... just hit the button for my BD10 was getting worried that I hadn't been raided in a day or two and I keep getting tapped by others that are 3 times my ally level so it's a huge disadvantage... When this is done it will go well with my BK9!
On a side note, would anyone know why I lvl 71 with 34 allies keeps getting attacked by others that are 3 times my ally count? and that is almost ALL I see on my battle list are people that are 2 and 3 times my size. That and poor guys that are 1/3 my size. But NO ONE really near my count? Am I in no mans land or is the battle list tainted? Thanks for any input!

Sanger, from the discussions I've had before with others on this topic, I think you might be in "no man's land".
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but the battle list picks out the closest people to your level/army size. There are probably very few level 71's with small army sizes such as yours.
I am guessing that there are probably not too many lvl 71's with only 100 allies too (those are the ones attacking you right?. So, when they check their battle list, it shows people above and below, just because it's trying to find enough people to fill their list.
The advantage of keeping a low ally count is that it reduces the number of more powerful people that see you, but since there are so few people in the lower ally counts, the battle list will range wider because it still needs to find enough people to fill up the list. Make sense? Anyone feel free to add to this, I've been wondering about specifics myself.

My experiences are contrary to this, but it may be different elsewhere...reading on will explain this.
I've ventured through levels 50 to 77 in the last few weeks and I'm constantly seeing players ranging from 109 to 385 ally count. The majority however are between 150-250. I think that's because they are all trying to fly under the radar to upgrade their BDs. Its frustrating as i feels like I'm picking on the poor and weak. I've never experienced, even after refreshing my battle list multiple times, my list being full of players of the highest ally count. Not just in this level but this has been experienced between lvls 51 to 77.
Maybe it is just random and the battle list is constantly trying to fill up with whatever player it can find? My experiences also vary on army size.
I think it depends on how many players are concentrated in a bracket of lvls? I'd like to see a graph of player concentration across levels 0-200 to date. Something tells me the largest concentration would be between levels 50 to 120 maybe?
I think that the battle list might well be determined by your ally count/army size etc... But that depends on the concentration of players in your level that have a similar ally count/army size? I think GREE need to at least outline the facts surrounding how they actually calculate the list.
Anyway, I see no problem with it...I just wouldn't believe that lowering my ally count would hide me from the stringer players...because I see these weak guys all the time, in fact, my battle lists are constantly flooded with them! Lol
By the way...every time I see your name it looks like something else...hahaha! Oh and luv the Dumb and Dumber quote! Lol! Tic tac?

Hit build on BD9 an hour ago. :)
Not one hit taken. Raided like crazy tonight to get there before bedtime. That and a timely manors collection time and finishing off a few of the gazillion critters in Abaad got me there. Luckily, I found a weaker player also apparently making a BD run to get me that last 50k I needed.
Thanks to all for the great advice here, for me and others, and the sharing of your stories. I believe the 100-109 range may indeed be a nice pocket in which to make a run. Not safe or anything like that, but not as dangerous as other level ranges. Will let you guys know how my BD10 run goes - I plan to power straight through.

Hopefully when I get home tonight there won't be more damage done. Thanks Proprio, I had this idea that maybe I should drop all my allies to try to lay low while i make a BD run. I'll just sit back and increase my money and stats first instead. I've always focused on IPH (currently at 16.3k) which I was rewarded from early on with the only IPH event i've seen, with the "Arcane Defender". But now I realize I need beefy guys, and dragons are the only ones that fit the bill. I've done one $1m upgrade on a money building so far without getting raided, but with BD being almost twice as much, I'm too afraid of being picked off before i can make it to the $1.8 for BD10.
Haha, my name is based on a script my friend wrote in school for Spanish class about his pet duck being sick. Used it as a gaming ID ever since. Yes, other people have pointed out if you switch the D for an F, or swap the vowels, you get something else but it had a clean origin!
And Dumb and Dumber is great, one of my top 10 movies definitely. "Hey, wanna hear the most annoying sound in the whole world?" I haven't updated my profile in a bit because I created it back when color tags were allowed, and when I try to update it, it doesn't let me keep the color tags so I just left it.

Well, after 3 days and about 6 hours of raiding this evening I did it. Thanks to all those who gave advice, wished me well and those players in my level that resisted the temptation of all that unvaulted gold I had laying around. Not sure how to attach images (the forum program says the file is too big) or I would show the screen shot.
I hope I didn't wear out my welcome on my level, I'm sure a few folks were tired of making donations to my dragon quest. Plan on camping a bit and recovering. Then it will be time to focus on breeding a few dragons.

They'll be sorry, later. Their mistake. I never take it easy on folks, especially when I see that BD9 in their kingdom.
I'm sure a few folks were tired of making donations to my dragon quest.
They're going to be even more sorry when you start raiding everything to the ground... and there's nothing those weak saps can do about it. Except post to your wall, crying. Ignore 'em and take them to the cleaners everytime.
And one more thing, Congrats!;)

Just want to share my BD9 and BD10 runs.
I was around level 140, had ~350 allies and ~110K/stats, ~15K IPH.
BD9:
Original plan was to get to 450+ allies and max out Hydras before any attempt. But one day I had 400K+ gold after collected my 24-hourlys, noticed my current upgrade due in a few hours, so decided to go PVPing and see if I can get enough for a ~600K upgrade.
Reached 600K, wasn't attacked, my manors/PHs were due in a few hours, so decided to ride my luck. Got to about 950K, sold a bunch of buildings and there was my BD9, much more prematurely than I had ever expected. Total about 12 hours spent overvault, and wasn't successfully attacked at all.
BD10: Less than a week later (with the easy BD9 run fresh in mind, hydras barely replenished), I decided on a whim to go for BD10, or at least see how far I can get. I figured if thing went south I should still be able to get a 600-700K upgrade.
PVP'd like mad, and got to around 1.1mil before the first attack came which took a full 198K. Luckily I found a couple of overvault victims of my own and raided many highvalue buildings, and wasn't attacked for another period, reaching almost $1.3mil.
But from there the attacks came more often, and I was in a downhill battle, trying to raise gold faster than I was getting hit, and eventually got down to less than $600K. But I persisted and slowly got back to 1 mil with only one more loss of 198K; decided enough was enough and sold both level 3 manors, and that's how I got my BD10.
The whole ordeal lasted about 48 hours, during which I lost around $1.5mil to attacks, including 7 lots of $198K. Glad it's over and done with, so I can stop being an ATM for higher stat players, and can finally start breeding dragons. Currently at 60.

Congratulations dee17, the sense of accomplishment must be great having been through that ordeal.
Bummer about the manors though.
Quite right Kruppe, though it's dampened slightly by the feeling that selling the manors is kinda like taking a shortcut, almost a cheat in a way. Not really complaining though. It's means to an end and all that. And like Dexter says, rebuilding them is no problem and even the 630K upgrade back to L3 seems almost easy now.
I do advise other players to try get their BD10 much earlier than I did. Apparently at L140 I'm already visible to players all the way up to L200. Not a good situation to be in when going over vault.

I just finished my BD10 upgrade after a very prolonged prep time. All I can say to everyone getting hammered is dont quit. I am a free player who didnt discover the forums until late in the game and had my strategy all twisted. When I finally went for my BD 9 and 10 run it was right after events ended and not on a weekend. My stats were level 141 with an all Hydra army A/D of about 140 and IPH of 17k. My largest suggestion is to expect to get hit for 200k a number of times but most everyone is willing to ally if you are reasonable with them. Good luck!

And every story of someone succeeding when they are above L100 gives me heart so thanks for sharing yours! I wanted to power straight through to 10 right after 9 but with 2 events going on, it's just not the right timing. I'll wait for a slow time in the game again, as Newguy did. And the player who took me for 100k while I was in a movie, then another 250k while I slept, kindly sent me an ally request based on the post I made on his wall right after his first attack, so that's one fewer to watch out for when I do do it. :)

To tell you the truth, I am exhausted. It was worse than a PvP event since it went on for 8 days of raiding every time I had a spare moment. I still have this insane twitch "must raid, must raid" - like some sort of raiding undead zombie:D Raiding zombie exactly! Same here...after my BD run, it was like my fingers just automatically went to those ripe manors & silos without a moments hesitation. I had to consciously hold back for some time b4 I regained control. Gotta love them dragons tho! ;)

So I've got another 30ish hours till my BD10 upgrade finishes but I have been thinking about dragons. Maybe someone who has a full dragon army can tell me if they feel like it's killed the pvp part of the game for them? Losing a dragon at 13k a pop is a pretty strong incentive not to raid/attack. You have no need for honor points as the units are useless when you have dragons and its unlikely you'll be able to raid anything high enough to recover a lost dragon.
At 23k IPH I would say I have a fairly strong economy but still nowhere near enough to sustain pvp with dragons..

For as many as I have bought, I bet I have lost close to 100 so far. Who cares. If I raid someone's kingdom for enough money to buy 10 and I lost 1 or 2? Then the investment was worth it to me.
And, yes...I will continue to raid and burn kingdoms to the ground. Dragons that die, well they were old or lame and deserved it. :)

Im a big fan of PvP after all it is a war based game. I only attack high value targets and with the two templars giving about 84% of the true value it covers my losses. Plus im still holding out hope that the bajillion honor points can be used on a better than dragon stat unit at some point down the road.

I have been raiding/attacking and haven't lost a dragon in over 600 battles recently. Most That I attack are around 60-70k stats but I have run across a few above 150k and still strangely I haven't lost any dragons. Even though dragons cost 13k I dont think it will deter anyone from pvping, just maybe they will be more selective of targets

The last thing to mention about being selective about targets, if you attack people that have a defense of 40% or below your attack, you lose almost nothing. If you start going head to head with a comparable player in a pissing match, you're going to lose more dragons.

Finally started my BD10 upgrade. My current level 138. My strategy was as follows;
- built a full hydra army @ +16% with att/def at low 140's
- started the run during the week as less players seem to be online
- waited over night to see if I could sit on 500k without getting attacked
- cleared the last four maps down to one hit and also all other major bosses over 10k
- had another 100k to colled first thing in the morning
- so now on 600k I did PvP up to 850k with total disregard for hydra losses
- did 3 gem refills and pve another 200k (I'm a light gem spender)
- sold 2 level 3 manors for the last 700k
The key was probably spending only 4 hours going from 500k to 1.7m. Now its 10:30 and I'm all done.
Obviously there's still some luck involved. But this shows it can still be done even when you are getting attacked by players up to level 200.

Congrats Bobfishcake quite the accomplishment at that level and good strategy although selling the 2 manors hurts a bit

I'm gonna have to say that my crappy level 1 manors that I sold didn't / don't make a dent in my efforts to buy dragons. I can raid for nearly 150k / hour if I get it right. So 15k + 15k for me every two days doesn't mean jack. Hell, I wish I hadn't rebuilt them until after my dragon army was full. Because I spent nearly half a mil for pointless buildings.
Even his 2x level 3 manors are 105k every two days. That's not enough to even buy 10 dragons.
It's all perspective.

Finally started my BD10 upgrade. My current level 138. My strategy was as follows;

Congrats bobfishcake - impressive strategy. I too looked at several buildings as a way to safely save gold for a BD10 run. The buildings aren't hard to replace and the time they saved me from sitting with unprotected gold was an important part of my run.

Ah, just realized I will not be able to make my BD10 run later this week when the events end. Because the FINAL book of the Wheel of Time just arrived in the mail from amazon. I've been reading this dam series for 20 years. Didn't believe it would ever end - was sure that the author would die before it did. Which..., well, he did. But the co-writer brought in for the final 3, when he found his footing, made the end run as good as the earlier books, IMO. Anyway, still can't believe it but it says right there on the cover, it's "The Final Volume." The 909 pages of it will occupy all my free time for a while. :)

LMAO! Thank you kindly, Ratma, for agreeing to take all that worrisome gold off my hands whilst I catch up on my reading. I can do so now with no worries. lol.
And duder, I agree Sanderson has proved a good writer. While waiting for his first installment in the WoT series, I decided to check him out - his Mistborn series was a good read and convinced me he wouldn't destroy the promise of this series.

Is there a way to figure out how much a building will sell for before selling it? I was wondering how much lvl 2 or 3 manors sell for.

It's half the full upgrade cost. So you get 350k for a level 3 manor regardless of lumber mill level.

Ahh ... I didn't realise that the final book was in. Like you, I have been following the series through the years (which can strain the memory at times). Agreed that Sanderson has been a good fit. Indeed, in some ways and with no disrespect to the original author, I think that Sanderson may be doing a better job of things than Jordan did in the last couple of books. Perhaps it was Jordan's failing health, but his writing towards the end tended to lose focus/get a bit "flabby" (can't think of the right adjective). Just my personal opinion.

Finally got to 1,000 dragons by level 128! Only 400 more to go! (Pretty sure I have 100 units that are better than dragons so I won't waste $$ going for 500). Only taken me 40 levels to do it (give or take 10 levels) - with minimal PvP... mostly PvE (hitting the Ocean Protector on Shipwreck Cove - cuz i can hit it in 2, gives me good ROI in $$ and armor) + IPH...
