Dang, I just came up against the heaviest gem player I've seen at Levels 50-51. He's L51, A10.0k, D8.7k (versus my L50, A7.9k, D9.8k) with very little economy (IPH only 2.2k, to give you a rough idea)... I was sitting at 0.5m gold, and he managed to take around 60k off me - but I spotted the attacks just in time to dump another 100k or so into units.

He's not responded to my ally request... and worse, I accidentally attacked him while I was checking out his base. If his news feed is anything like mine, I will be on his feeding list for a long time, so it looks like I will have to put off BD Level 9 for at least the next few weeks. :(

I guess there is something of a silver lining though - at least this didn't happen on my coming holiday later in the week!

I think there are one solution, you may want to try. Not guarantee it'll work. It's a dirty workaround though.

First find a time you think he is sleeping, then, fill his wall with your greeting words. Each comments will push the attack feeds a little more out of the his list. Try to put about 100 comments..... He cannot attack you from his list now. lol

Thanks. :) That actually ceased being a problem a while ago now... I just kept raising my stats and counter-attacking while offering to be allies. He resisted at first, kept raising his stats to counter-counter me - but his densities were starting to drop significantly.

After about a week, I caught him with c0.5m, and offered not to attack in return for an alliance - and he accepted! So, I was able to continue with BD9 and BD10 after all. :)

Just to chime in here, I tried such a tactic. The only problem is, once you post 6 or 7 in a row, it just shows up on the list "[name] posted 6 comments".

BUT in the same train of thought, if you get an ally or two to post on his wall after you, an alternately do so, it should come out ok. :)

Whilst saving for BD I have lost over 200K today alone. I have defense density over 300 with low allies (50) but up at a fairly high level from farming loot. Is there a tier of low ally count that can be recommended to go to or is the recommendation still max ally count? Woo hoo, there be Dragons in my kingdom in the next day and a half when the upgrade completes... I completed my BD10 upgrade at level 100.

LiveHard, all depends on what level you are. Generally the higher the level the larger the ally bracket you are seen in people's rival list. For example if I was level 100 and had 450 allies, I could in fact see all the way down to 167 allies for player levels 99 - 101. So generally if you are "high" level you need to get to max allies IMHO because the ally bracket is so large that high density is overcome by sheer numbers. I invested heavily in High Priests early so that gave me a strong defense to fend off attackers. However the game environment is changing. There will be more and more Dragon armies at lower levels as campers are able to get BD10 earlier, making it a lot harder to fend them off with High Priests or any other monsters for that matter....

Due to 4 expensive visitors (400,000 gold loss) I sold both of my lvl 2 manors for BD9 upgrade. I got 210,000 each for them. Yikes! Life is rough at lvl 119.

If 4 different visitors could tax you, maybe you could have dumped the gold into hydras instead to boost your kingdom and attempt the BD9 upgrade again. Selling manors is a viable alternative, but now to get to level 10, you would have a lot more to do without the manors.

Definitely gonna want some high priests, I wouldn't stop PVE though, thats a significant amount of cash every day, if you're worried about getting into whale turf you are no where near it.

5k IPH is decent provided this is mostly "effective" IPH (as opposed to apparent IPH), but I would prefer to see a much higher number personally. And you should definitely get yourself an all-High Priest defence. PvEing or PVPing is up to you; I chose the same as you and went PvP-only during my BD run.

Thanks guys...i didnt upgrade Cottages so most of my IPH is truly effective, but I feel i need to raise that up a bunch...Thanks for the hints. As far as raiding goes what is sentiments on the the healing temple is there a level that you feel its not worth the bang for the buck. As i will be PvPing i'd like to reduce my losses as well

For example, if you have max allies (405) at 32,000 def then it is too low IMO to camp without beefing up your defense. You are correct HPs are the cheapest most effective defense strategy, however I would caution there are more and more dragon wielding rivals out there then a few months ago, which obliterates HPs. My suggestion is pump up the HPs first to a decent amount and then your money buildings then the BD run. But if your current defense is significantly stronger then your rivals, even the ones with higher # of allies, then you can focus on your money buildings first, then HPs then BD run.

So I did a successful level 9 breeding den run at level 81 a few weeks ago. My defense was at 26.5k with 180 allies. You are right in that many players cant touch you at 32k defense, but some will. If I were you I would upgrade to level 8 now. The level 8 BD upgrade will show you whether you have the defense for it or not. If you make level 8 untouched, then try saving for level 9, but dont do any other building upgrades while over the vault limit. If someone attacks you, then just dump the money you have left after the attack into a level 2 manor upgrade.

Dont waste your time upgrading healing temple at this stage. It will only make a minor difference. While over the vault limit on these BD runs, most of your income should be from raids. Just accept the losses, and replace the units after your upgrade has started if you feel you need to. Just raid like crazy until you have the money you need.

I think it's realistic. I play KA a lot more casually than most folks I assume. But I saved up for my level 3 manor upgrades without raiding a penny. I like to keep a low profile when going over vault, that, and I just don't have the time to be constantly raiding. 700k is obviously less than 1m+ ... but I still see it as a feasible goal.

You double your iph easily if you raid constantly, mainly with silos and level 1 manors, or if you get desperate other stuff. There are gem players out there, and if they find you then saving for big upgrades you are sunk. Saving days off the time spent over the limit makes it more feasible for most.

I work on a 5k difference between their attack and my defense before raiding. If they are closer than that i typically leave them alone.

Somewhere in that 20 mins of time ... some player named Salah shows up and takes a huge amount of my unvaulted gold. OK ... that's part of the game, no biggie. I say all this for two reasons, Timbathia has a good strategy, it would be good advice for you to consider it.

Holy crap!!! Has anyone run into this player before? At lvl 98 he has HUGE stats, the biggest I've seen so far at least. And ... it seams he is a free player. I've attached some pics for you to gawk at. I'd love to hear some feedback about him if anyone knows who he is.

I finally got my BD to 8. Then almost sold it.

But wait - there's more!

Finally, besides great looks and wasting away the idle time making your kingdom look great, decore has an excellent side effect and use! Make sure you have a "row" of space around your BD. then plant two or three trees on the front row and side row. Then it will be impossible to click the den because you'll only hit your trees.

Nice huh? Plant a full row on the side and front to be extra safe. :)

Dengus, I am level 42 with 210 allies with 25025/18851 (only 50 high priests). With max HPs I would have a defense of at least 20k. Havent lost a fight at max allies in a few months, although prior to the Heyden the Wicked boss event I lost a fight when I was at 50 allies.

I'm a free player at lvl 79 with full allies. 53k defense kept me safe for the time it took to save 1.8M for my BD10. At the last minute I got hit by two Gem players. One had 57k Attack the other had well over 130k. Both of them were lvl 81. Before the two of them I hadn't lost a fight a 5 weeks. I don't do missions or battle so I've been at this level for a month. So I guess I would say 50k will keep you safe enough but Gem players will always be around. Good luck.

Thanks Dirk. In process of building economy but by starting this weekend planning on going consecutive upgrades to BD from 5 to hopefully 10 within a 2-3 week period if lucky. This week I plan on beefing up d on High priests with all cash over 330k vault in between upgrades. I'm just worried as there are a bunch of players who realized its better to sit in 50's (level wise) and get their BD up to 10 that will be making their way with dragon armies to the 80's in the next month or two. Im sure i'll get hit a couple times between 8-10 but hopefully i can limit them to only a couple losses.

I suggest allying to any strong players in your rival list and drop any lower level players. I also, ahem, had found a couple of donors way over their limit but not constructing anything so I helped myself .... It was hard not to drain them completely.

PS: I'm glad those gem players did not see me. Nor do i see either of you... It was a nerve racking couple days.... Good luck!

PS: What is the protocol now I know there may be unprotected vaults?.... Such thoughts are tempting.....

I'm at lvl81 and just upgraded to BD9 with lower defense stats (about 38K). I assume the big difference with you is that you maxed out your allies and i'm sticking at 159?

I feel fortunate having done this at level 60 so it was a lot easier to keep cash on hand than it was for many others who started later. I was lucky to have only lost a few hundred thousand from 8-10. Each time i was able to play around with my ally count and hide.

It wasn't a priority for me until I read this forum and realised I would be better off doing it now so thanks so much for the advice.

there is the possibility that the player who attacked you will drop in allies to find you since he knows you are going for BD10 upgrade.

If you drop your allies, you might be attacked by anyone with double of your allies. :-)

I am trying out a low ally strategy and will start buying hydras soon. I think I can fend off most that are twice my allies - but I am encountering a few which are triple my allies or more. If it doesn't work, I agree with you BadNews, and will try max ally.

I just started by BD10 upgrade. The past 24 hours have been stressful, for sure, but I was left alone. I admittedly made as mad a dash as I could to that 1.71 millions mark. I chewed through 255 imps, 58 manticores, 55 high priests, 40 basilisks, 11 cannons, and 5 hydras to do it, but all those will be eventually obsolete once I raise my dragon army anyway.

I pushed up my ally count to do it. I had been lurking around 200 allies for awhile in anonymity and had gotton my manors to 3/4 before anyone really bothered me. I'd been left alone so long, I was a bit annoyed that my peace and quiet and been disturbed, so I decided to seek revenge. In order to surpass the raider's defense score, I had to bump my ally count up to the mid 300s. My defense score followed along nicely, so I just gradually kept bumping up until there were only a small handful of even max allies that could get a piece of me. Of course, making allies with as many of the big thumpers in your level range as you can never hurts, either.

Sometimes you need units from those buildings to complete quests. If quests aren't your thing, then no, you probably don't need them.

If it's any consolation, you're not alone. I lost over 150k a night for 3 nights in a row to the same guy. He finally accepted my ally request, though so I should be able to finish tonight. I toyed with dropping my ally count but I was worried that I was going to get my stats within range of the dozens of players I'd been raiding mercilessly over the past couple of weeks.

From what i have seen when i am over 200 allies i get randomly attacked by fully allied players even when not over the vault limit. When below 200 no one bothers me.

Anyway, since i am travelling at the moment i have put things on hold and upgrading manors and lenders again.

I found this too when I was on the BD run. When I went above 200 I was getting attacked by rivals with 400+. I dropped to 190 and didn't.

I agree. During my run with 60 alies, I only saw players with ally counts below 140. There were a few who were stronger but only a some kept attacking. I allied one player and the other eventually got bored or ran out of stamina or took too many casualities. Another player I attacked after figuring out his collection cycles so he stopped attacking as well.

Though there the fact that dropping ally count might make you a target for your current victims, ahem donors.

I’m not invincible, not by a longshot, it takes a bit of luck but with 59 000 defence at level 85 it takes a dragon army or a heavy gem spender to steal my money. When I’m out raiding the majority of targets that pop up is fully allied opponents but after a while players with 200 allies and less starts to show up, and their bases are usually just a smoking rubble of a ruin. I’m getting the generall idea with the low allie strategy but for that to be succesfull, I guess you havet to go way below 200 allies.
Right now, starting to get near the vault limit, into the fire again, for the last stretch to the dragon army! Wish me good luck folks, I might need it.

Anyone directly in my path will not succeed with a low ally strategy. ;) For example, I am currently stalking a heavy gem spender with a BD7 who has featured in Auction leaderboards at least a couple of times...

Low allies is not necessarily the panacea some seem to think it is - ahead of and behind myself, there are a number of low-ally high-density dragon owners and gem players with all-gem armies (with or without dragons) coming through the Level Fifties right now.

For those who haven't made the run yet... here's my take on the whole thing:

- I made sure my defense stats were as close to unbeatable (for a free player) as possible for my level. I maxed out on high priests for defense... and completely ignored my attack score.

- It took me just over 3 weeks to save up for BD9 & BD10. But that number is slightly misleading because I primarily camped and relied solely on building collections until I got to the halfway point of BD10. That's when I stepped on the gas and went all out on pvp. Looking back... I actually spent the same number of days (11 each) on the last two upgrades... which means I probably could have completed them much sooner if I had been more aggressive with pvp the whole time... Then again I was content with relying on my defense score to get me through it.

- And speaking of staying on the defensive... I made sure to keep checking the rival list... and adding anyone even remotely close in terms of stats. I know this helped me avoid a few costly battles.

- I only lost to one attacker during the entire run (for a loss of 9900) but that person had weaker stats and lost the next battle... after which he gave up. And of course I added him as an ally before he could come back with better stats.

- While stockpiling gold... I only upgraded cheap money buildings... that way I could still boost my IPH without slowing down my savings.

- Finally.. I made sure to get my Lumber Mill to 10 before starting the run... and I would definitely recommend this to anyone else just getting started on their dragon run.

I'm not quite there yet but I second this strategy. I use the same strategy, full allies, level 10 lumbermill, full stock of high priests and I even added some 60 hawk slayer leathers for the extra comfort. The only difference between your and mine strategy is that I raid like crazy from the get go. On a good day I take in more on raiding than I do on collecting my buildings. But that is level dependent I guess. I'm at level 85 and there is quite a lot of manors built by players with weak defence. My attack is only 37000 but it had proven sufficent for succesfull raiding. Losses don't bother me, the bulk of the attack force consists of catapults and they are cheap to replace. Sure sometimes I lose a flaming treb or siege tower, but they get replaced by cats as well. In a few days (if disaster doesn't strike) they will all be outdated and the mighty dragon army rises!

Congrats everyone on their breeding dens, I'm slowing working on my IPH to create an actual IPH of closer to 10k or so before going on my run, as well as working up my defence to have a full army of HP's. I've noticed a lot of strategies that are saying lower level allies doesn't really work yet sitting at 104 allies close to level 90 I have been attacked roughly once per day for awhile and I win about 8/10 battles with almost a full army of HP's. Now this may not be the best strategy because I'm sure once I'm much higher over the vault more people will be looking to attack, but I have been spending all my money on defence and money buildings for awhile.

Yep. It's sad how hard it is to add any noticable defense at this point. It takes 200k in equipment to bump up 200 pts in Def.

W00t! Got my BD upgrading to level 10

Did it at level 103 with 470 allies with 74.5k defense. Only things worth noting is that i did it soley on my own IPH no PvP or PvE. Got a love tap from a forum member and that was my only lost fight during the time I was saving.

So it is done. 1 710 000 gold gathered and the BD10 is upgrading. Took 6 days for the last upgrade which took some real hardcore raiding. Lucky me I've been traveling a loot in work this week, spending a lot of time on trains and hotell rooms. It was pretty smooth sailing, only got hit once and that was by someone who was pissed about me stealing his cash. It was a suicide attack so no worry there. But when I was at the 1,2 million mark, scary stuff happened. Players who had camped on lower levels, building their dens, was moving up the levels. I befriended three of them before they spotted me and my gold. Two of them though, with 100K plus attacks, never befriended me but I only saw them once, so I guess they were only passing through. Right now I'm more relieved than happy, to be honest. Gonna take it slow for a week or two now, just collect my buildings and train me some dragons.

And by the way, congrats Legend, looks like we join the club together.

Was about 300k short last night when the news feed rang so sold a manor and a lender. No big deal. Turns out it was Hap telling me about the name contest. Only a slight heart attack, lol. Glad to join the exclusive club!

Thanks to Euchred and Everson for sharing their experiences and tips, and very special thanks to Hobtuse for sharing specific advice and providing the inspiration that the BD10 is doable post level 100.

Sorry to hear that. It is a miserable position to be in. I guess you should continue developing your economy, your hydra army, and the kennel, and hope they level up away.

BD 10 plans have been put on hold. Was able to save 1.1m over vault to get to 9 like it was a walk in the park. Then 2 players with 100k+ stats roll on me last night, sheesh what luck. Hoping they'll ally w/ me or I'll have to wait for them to level up out of my bracket. Both had nearly 1100 Dragons at lvl 71/72 ... jesus christ ... one of them barely had a 3900iph too.

What's the fun in a BD10 run w/o a setback I guess. Got 1/2 of these behemoths to ally with me :D

Also for those considering a BD run what I did this time was find most of the rivals with similar/better stats and to ally them BEFORE you go overvault! You don't want them to check you out and see all that cash and attack you rather than ally you.

Good call on the A/D differential, how far did your stats plummet from all the raiding casualties? I'm trying to get there on collections alone because I fear my stats will fall too far from constantly doing PvP, making me vulnerable.

I finished level 5, I think I still have to save another ~100k gold for level 6, and I expect it to start getting really pricy for 7-10.

Dude, you're far from your usual 'hood! Check out Ghost's newbie tips in the sticky area, he has links to the spreadsheets. If you don't have your lumber mill up to level 10, you're looking at 1.9 million for L10 (1.7 million with lumber mill).

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought of doing that.I forgot I even had the lumber mill! It might be level 3 or 4 I think.

I started a level 2 upgrade on the beasts boost building, but it sounds like I should focus on the mill. Now to go check those sheets. Lol.

I have just started my upgrade to BD10. At level 128, it has been fairly challenging for my three attempts in the past two weeks.

The trick is to ignore your attack stats completly. Yes, they will take a hit but really, that's nothing to worry about. If you at the end of your run go on the attack with 700 less attack points then you started with, you will still find lots of targets. And besides, even your best offensive units will be replaced by flaming dragons. But If raiding starts to affect your defense stats, that's a whole other thing. You don't want that, at all.

I followed this strategy on my run. Get a full stock of high priests for defense and make sure they don't get sent out to battle. Load up your offense with cheap units, imps or cats and go on the attack. If you lose an attacking unit, chances are it's a cheap one. Take from your spoils of war and replace them, it's worth it to keep the priests at home. If you lose high value units like flaming trebs or similar – do the same, just replace them with the cheap attackin units.

You will be counting you units a lot but this will speed up the race to the BD10. I got lazy for a while, bought som 50 cats and raided until I started to se dead Priests on the battle field. Then I bougth another 50 cats and carried on. When I closed in on the 1,5 million mark, I was back to counting every unit agin though.;)

And by the way, congrats Tcapi, certainly an achievment at yout level.

I was hit bad and lost over 600k in the three attempts. But it must have been worst for Spectra at level 153. I think he did try evasive maneuver and reduce ally count, and has to go up again when it did not work.

I'll be joining the league of dragon breeders in 48 hours! Thanks to all contributors here for your ideas and strategies and camaraderie.

It's a long slog at level 55...few whales but not much raiding opportunities, so it takes a rather long time. You just have to be stronger than 95% of the players, steer clear of everyone within striking distance of your defense, recruit the gem buyers, and doggedly scroll through endless list of rivals, most of whom are dry as dessert. I managed to rob less than a dozen players, 3 manors, a few gold mines and lenders and level 10 silos; and survived 3 successful raids. And now...for sweet revenge!

Thanks for the tips. I currently bring 1065 units to battle, and some (2/3 is more accurate) of my HP's are included. So I did the math and it will basically cost me 160k gold in Invokers (don't have Imps unlocked, never upgraded that building lol) to get my HP's out of my attacking army. I'm more than positive I'd be able to accumulate enough gold through raiding to cover that cost and then some. I'm just already 770k gold into my BD10 run, so spending another 160k doesn't really agree with me right away lol. But as long as I can raid 200k+ gold throughout my BD10 run, it'll be worth it. I can always use the extra cash ;). Thing is his defense will be almost identical to my attack so with the possible loss of dragons I might not even profit. I'll share the results afterwards to help other dragon hoarders weigh the consequences of future attacks.

Those are the worst scenerios. Guaranteed you are going to lose Units, if you even win. You'll probably still come out slightly ahead or break even.

Took a study break and did a little PVP to make some money in anticipation for this battle and came across someone else with 1 mill on them. He appeared to be about to upgrade to BD 9. His stats were a little lower :D made about 120k with losses. This level range is prime for PVP, everyone is trying to get big upgrades before getting into whale territory

@Timbathia, Tcapi: Congrats :) Not sure if I have congratulated you people in-game beforehand..

There was a player (in-game name: Dillion) whom made Breeding Den L10 at the level of 134 - 135 (around there I think). I used to constantly target him for raids as he had level 2 manors. However in the end, he sent me an ally request and I added him.

I think he is the free player with the highest level whom I have seen making Breeding Den L10. Anyone else who made it at a higher level than him?

I'm still at Level 6 on the Den, but those Dragons are the key in Kingdom Age.
Just a note, the equivalent in Modern War is the heavy bomber for 50 Attack.
The Plux Method works on all 3 games so follow this method for the best results.

True. Between the 2 games though, I've noticed Dragons seem a lot easier to maintain than Stealth Bombers in MW. I've only been playing KA since May/June, and have a true IPH of ~7k. That means I can buy roughly 20 - 25 Dragons every 2 days. In MW I have a fairly respectable 700k IPH (true IPH is probably closer to 600k), so at that rate I'd only be able to afford 8 - 10 Stealth Bombers every 2 days. I've been playing MW for months longer than KA too. Lol, so yeah it's basically really difficult/time-consuming to get a huge army of Stealth Bombers in MW. Dragons, not so much.

True. Between the 2 games though, I've noticed Dragons seem a lot easier to maintain than Stealth Bombers in MW. I've only been playing KA since May/June, and have a true IPH of ~7k. That means I can buy roughly 20 - 25 Dragons every 2 days. In MW I have a fairly respectable 700k IPH (true IPH is probably closer to 600k), so at that rate I'd only be able to afford 8 - 10 Stealth Bombers every 2 days. I've been playing MW for months longer than KA too. Lol, so yeah it's basically really difficult/time-consuming to get a huge army of Stealth Bombers in MW. Dragons, not so much.
you do not count weapon/armor that could be more expensive then dragons.
