The fix is just now going out. Please restart your game and let us know if you are seeing improvement.
Performance returned to normal about an hour ago for me and is still fine. Any reason why I saw a massive improvement before the fix officially went out? I am UK based, different servers? Performance picked up for me at 19.44 UK time (14:44 EST) to better than pre update performance levels.

I think if/as folks log in and say it works or not I would ask that they also state what their device was, e.g. iPad 1st gen, iPod 4th gen, iPhone 3s and what version of IOS. That will likely help many players who might want to update but have the same device and configuration.
The last thing that someone should do is just post, 'hey y'all it works' with no further data since that doesn't tell anyone squat and hopefully that info gets passed up to the developers.
My personal take on this is to get the oldest device e.g. iPad 1st gen or iPhone 3 and use that to test new versions of the app since it seems that these devices are the one's now with the most issues. Or just say, sorry but you just lost your player because we can no longer support you….
Some of the display issues by the way have existed on Android for a while and it has to do with the devices resources. For example phones with only 512mb of system memory cannot load the entire data set when they run MW so many buildings do not display on the device. But they will show up on other players screens if they are not experiencing the same issue. One of my test players has this problem so I don't bother with buildings because once I build them I can't see them!
Another issue on the Android side is that the app doesn't flush old data set updates. At some point the device gets full and can no longer process new data, only way to fix this is to go in with the file manager and purge them. This also affects server pushes which fail because they cannot fully download. The clue to this is that you keep getting asked if you want to restart in order to load the new data that was 'downloaded'. When you restart you get the same message because the data did not have enough space to load.
Why I mention this is because I have to wonder if some of our IOS woes are related to bloated data and the inability to program down to the lowest common denominator.
In any event I don't get a good feeling about running 4.5.2 yet….

It feels good to be back in-game at all and for more than 40 seconds for the first time in a week.
I closed the app, powered down my iPad and left it 15 minutes. No download required.
Other than relief at being back in, first impressions are that loading time is up (over 2 minutes), the NPCs are still invisible and there is still the annoying freezing every few seconds (albeit it feels like the freezes are slightly shorter.

It is not starting. I powered my iPad off and restarted it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
Nope iPad 1st gen still crashing on boot up just tried it. Enough of this, I'm having one of these for dinner.

You may need to ensure that the app is completely closed (force close) and then re-enter the game.

Are those,people who were forced to spend gold to choose nations going to be compensated... I'm down 100 gold and will still need to pay another 50 to get back to the correct flag
After last upgrade i am not even able to login! It crashes during splash screen!

Update: after switching out of the app and trying to re-enter, it crashes (three times out of three so far). But relaunching after that gets you back in again.
Did update game seems fine so far. , login time slightly longer , but ill put that down to first login for update

Logging in takes 2min and every time i get welcome back banner.
Loading maps is ok, no freeze ups. Game seems to run good now.

Btw it seems to me that it's something corrupted in the documents and data file since it crashes while loading on the opening screen and when I go in and look at the usage for MW I'm only seeing 10.6mb of data loaded instead of a gig+. Is it possible that it is a new graphic or data type which was used that IOS 8.1 can handle but that is not backward compatible with older IOS versions? Or some call required by IOS 8-8.1 that is blowing up on older versions of IOS?
Or I guess the bigger question is there anyone not on IOS 8.1 that has MW 4.5.2 running?
I haven't been able to login at all where I could at least do that before.
