I think open rates may possibly have something to do with your connection. Idk if it's just a coincidence or not, but every time the screen takes a little while to load the prize like a couple seconds, the box does not open for me.

Just now i tested whether my connection was being fast by collecting money and depositing in the vault. Kept doing so until i found a spot in my house where the wifi connection seemed very good. Tried opening the box and it opened. x500 valor.

Not saying good connections gonna get all your boxes opened, but bad connection might keep them closed. I agree with JMC, it also looks like that with me too, but just to take to positive side of things, if your connection lagged, there is greater possibilities of glitch that could happens, and give you another go to open the box...(can anyone confirm this??)
I have currently 6 glitches happening for me in this event alone...and mainly when my connection is slow...one of them gives me a nice vaccine at the end, but mostly are double sorries...
I prefer to open box when I have wifi connectivity in my house...which is fast!!but then again, if you open them only at your house, then you will lose so many opening chances...

Just as a information to other forum members, I will post my tries for this event since day 1, so that people who gather statistics for this kind of event could get insights :
Day 1 (02/05/2012): From what I read in the forum, Event started at 1 AM my time (GMT +7), and I started opening boxes on 3.35 AM - 12.00 PM and the result (23 tries - including glitches) :

Day 3 (04-05-2012) : Opening from 1.10 AM, fell asleep and next open 5AM - 2 PM (11 tries) :

All of the above tries are all with medium option (31K - 34K a pop).

As you can see, I increase my chances of getting the ultimate prize by just trying to open more, maybe many more compared to others (one example is my friend, who only tries 3-5 times a day, and whining when he couldn't get vaccines, which he currently got 3 - I mean, come on...3-5 times a day, compared to 23 a day...go wonder..)
You just have to put really hard work into getting it, and eventually you should be rewarded..

I hope that the above statistics will help others in pursuing the 10th item...good luck guys!!

I was still choked from last event so this was the last thing I wanted. I have given up all hope of 10 ever so I will try until I get 9 then just open without expectation and hope for 500k or Valor.

This event has pushed me to the brink of 70 and I don't want to cross over yet I feel at home at 69

If I get one more Defensive Cannon 10A/20D you guys are going to hear me scream even is you are in another time zone. 4 in a row now. Yeah I should be happy it is a open with the medium chance and not a fail, but that unit is one of the last I need. I already have tons of them. Yeah, I feel that. I've done fairly well overall at this point, my attack has gone up about 150 points thanks to one of the incremental units, loot units, and cash and valor. But if none of the remaining 5 boxes I have has #7 for me, I'm going to quit while I'm ahead.

At this point I'm not really happy with the event but I'm not unhappy either. If I raised two more levels by the end and still found myself stuck on 6, I would be extremely unhappy, so no point in risking going there. A man's got to know his limits.

I looked at my vaccine drop pattern and trying to set proper expectation as to when another one will drop. There is a dry spell of 15 attempts between vaccine 6 & 7 and 16 attempts between vaccine 7 & 8. Let's hope I will get the 9th vaccine on the 18th attempts which will not be today as I need my beauty sleep. If this holds truth, I will be really down to the wire.
I would be interested in knowing other people's vaccine drop rate especially between 8 & 9 or 9 & 10.
I wonder whether the probability of vaccine will go up as the # of attempts increase. In another word, does the game track the # of dry spell between vaccines.

Luke, i have been having good success getting med hits from Emir Island on the mini sub. Also, have had good success getting them from attacking people. I have 18 kits standing by, the most i've ever had and probably more than i'll need based on my success rate.

Not really any plan to follow for these events. Get boxes, attempt to open at every chance you get and hope for the prize.

If you're a gold spender, it seems that spending the gold on day 1 will give you best results. You have to be willing to go all the way, right away though.

I try to find places that gives me more luck to do opens, on the last event, I often open the boxes at enemy outpost map (of course each player have to find their own sweet spot)
I also try to zoom in or zoom out the map, to avoid lagging (hahaha, lots of you are going to think I'm crazy...)
I also try to vary which finger I use to press the button to open the box, and yesterday when I open the 9th and the 10th back to back, I use both of my thumb to press the cash option...LOLOLOL and it worked somehow...maybe my thumb is the luckiest part of me...

Completely agree that it is a game changer and allows you to hit high cost upgrades that were previously out of reach due to vault limits. It is a must have.

The combination of the 20% build time and this 30% build cost would be pretty handy.

Hey Tate! Sorry it's taken me a while to respond. Work was crazy yesterday, then I went out and had a couple of glasses of wine, so you know what that means...lol.

Anyway, I'm at a higher level so maybe that's why I've been having more success finding med kits. I do a lot of PVE and some PVP too. I've managed to take 1-2 kits from almost every rival I attack.

But, as of this morning I'm still at 9 vaccines. I have 51 boxes though so I still feel confident I'll get it. All I need is 1 more! I got my 9th one early AM yesterday so maybe it will work again this morning..

Yeah, it is really frustrating. I have been stuck on 8 for a couple days now. playing it pretty regularly and all I seem to be doing is accumulating grunts. I thought it would be easier to get to 9 and then expected 9 to 10 to be the challenge.

I have a question. We have no idea what the odds are for winning, and there are a number of ways this could be run.

I was wondering if Funzio has set a limit on how many pieces of equipment will be won. For example, it may have set a limit of giving out 200 Dark Agressors and say 10 Monsoons. If those have already be won by players, anyone playing after they have all been given out are gravy for MW.

The problem is, what works for one player does not work for the next. Was granted my 2nd grunt on my 1st open this morning. The nice thing about getting a grunt when you're still groggy headed and half awake is you don't feel the full sting of it. It's kind of like being medicated before a painful procedure.

Hey Bronson! Work has been busy and my allergies are acting up now that the weather is getting warmer, but I've been pretty good. Yes, I understand about not wanting to level up but I don't worry about that anymore. No one really knows where the " whale territory" really starts, and I'm at level 94 and it looks the same as 84; you have some strong and some weak players.

Maybe in the 100's it gets tougher, but I have allies at those levels and some of their stats aren't that impressive. I think when I hit 100 I will be fine..

Took me 25 stamina to get an extra 3 boxes this am which gave me absolutely nothing anyways! Stuck on 8 for the past 3 days, like many others here. I've alternated between using middle option and some gold and it isn't making much diff now, so now I'm outta gold and that's that!
I have 8 boxes left and like Bronson, once they're gone, I may just camp again, lick my wounds and work on my base.

Actually, I don't like to keep a lot of boxes on hand. There has been like 3 times when I had 10 or so boxes and then would reset then open with gold and the last box turned out to be the event item. I just keep a few 1-3 on hand, then resock when those are gone.

I'm at 9 since about 15 hrs ago, ie first open this morning (uk). Used some gold from 8, but got 9 using $. I really think that it comes down to the number of successful opens that you get combined with the "x" factor as to whether it is the event prize or loot/$/valour/grunt when it does open. The more that you open (not attempt, but actually get open), the more chance of success. But I'm not a statistician, or a dev!

I've been stuck on 6 for about a day now, but still getting a pretty decent open rate. I'd say I have around 30 attempts, and on top of the 6 vaccines a rough estimate of + 1 valor, + 2 cash, + 5 unit rewards as well. So roughly a 40% success rate on opens which isn't too bad.

Dont think I'll be taking part in another event in this way. It has me on edge. A delay of a build status window pop up combined with no confirmation window for the purchase caused me to spend some of my already limited gold. I'm normally more patient about waiting for the window to open. I hope support gives me that gold back. They can let me restart the entire build process, I don't want to spend gold to save 2 hours on a build time.


Still at 7 and no longer enjoying this event. That gold could have given me an open and then some. Not that I would spend it on that, but I would rather spend it on that than finishing a building 2 hours early.

I'm finishing off the boxes I have, then calling it quits. Too much frustration, too little reward. Future events I'm going to play casually. Not worth entering this mindset.

Depends how bad you want the 10th. I wouldn't bank ot it, just because you drop a shed ton of gold.

I am 53 Opens and 900 gold since my last vaccine. Gold guarantees nothing except an open which translates into 28 weak units and 6 grunts with a little bit of $$ and valor mixed in.

The prize is the 30% build cost reduction or bust in my book.

After cooling down, I decided I'm not quitting this event. I was more pissed about accidently spending the gold than anything else as it gave me no real benefit to speak of and took away the option to use gold for an open or timer reset. If support helps at all, it probably won't be till monday. It makes my teeth itch.

But I'm taking this to the end no matter what. It's clearly more likely that I'll fail to get 9 let alone 10, but I set out to do this knowing full well the odds weren't in my favor. I'm not going to be that guy who quits after a set back. I apologize for being that guy who whined about a set back.

After a 2 and half day dry spell I got numbers 7 and 8 after midnight last night. All this talk of dry spells every single event during the same time frame (middle 2 to 3 days) is a little fishy, I know it's still all chance, but every time and what seems like alot of people complaining about it, it has a feel of not chance. It's not just high item counts, I know I had with just 4 one event, 6 this event, 3 another event, and from the comments it looks like all over the place in terms of item count for most people. There seems to be some item collection but not what come before and after this same middle time period. Has anyone else noticed this?

I got 10 in the 3rd event with cash open. Yeah, i know it's the sh1tty one= +2 valor.

Of all the 5 events, the 3rd is the only event that i didnt even try. I think i only managed an average of 10-12 opens per day and to top it off, got number 10 with 2 days to spare.

I think for free players, the only chance that you can get 10 is in the first 3 days. After that, no matter how hard you try, or if you open 24 times a day, the chances are too slim that it is almost impossible. You have to be extremely lucky to pull it off in the last 2 day like you received 2 vaccines in a row or somethng like tht.

90% of players from this forum that got all 10 has used gold to open/reset.

So moral of the story: Free players...you are fcked!!! Lol. You need luck on your side. You need god on your side, well.. Maybe not.. Seeing even TC struggle to get all 10.

When i read all your post it started to make me feel i'm damn lucky...and i shoulr be grateful for this luck..
If you ask for advice, i will say just be positive, be very positive in mind, and BELIEVE that you are going to get it...
I find this attitude more helpful not only to find vaccines/nukes, etc, but also to manage your stress level in these event
I also try to visualize the picture of the vaccine when i'm opening boxes, and if the imagination is very good, usually i get the vaccine..hahaha you may believe it or not, its up to you...
Also try to find a sweet spot to open your boxes, try different places, and different timing when pressing the button...

Sorry to hear about you guys' travails here. I think devs should rethink the approach to events, the feeling of not getting the event prize stings for many who plow gold into this game. I think customers who feel satisfied spend more, and stay longer than those feeling burned or disillusioned...

Yay!! I just got my 9th vaccine, all without using gold. The bonus item is pretty cool--for my level (68) it is the Skull soldier (49/37). Now let's see if I can get the tenth vaccine. I'm not holding my breath--I haven't ever gotten the big prize in any event, even the one time when I did use a fair amount of gold.

I know, the last event really sent me to Margaritaville; it started rough and ended rougher! This one started well, but then I ran into a brick wall after my 8th vaccine. I have opened countless boxes to get the 9th and I hope some good fortune comes my way here in the home stretch. This deal would sure go well with the 25% faster upgrade I won a while back.

1-2: 2 out of 3 opens
3-5: 3 out of 5 opens
6-8: 3 out of 6 opens

All with about 30 tries in between and a terrible open rate of about 30%.

I've got faith that the last two will be back to back using only cash..... overly optimistic?

This might be a viable strategy. Reading the CC forums, stumbled across a thread on collecting M41As (or whatever they were called) and a guy built up an arsenal by limiting his attacks to three hits per session, possibly causing an algorithm to reset or something... Honestly, can't vouch for the veracity of his strategy, seemed to work for him though. Same principle applied here? I've thought about it.
