"Here is how the special event chances work: Once an event box is opened, one of several things will be awarded: money, respect, an extra grunt/ally, a weapon or unit, or the event special item. Regardless of how the box is opened, the reward is randomly chosen; opening a box does not guarantee that the event special item will be awarded. Each special event item gained will reduce the chance of getting the next, although this chance never becomes zero or below zero."

Make note of the final line. If the regular drop rate is 2% for the tenth, then maybe it is even lower if you have won in the past. I've been successful in the past three 10 box events, which tells me that going forward, I should never use gold if my chance of getting the next is now worse. Don't quite understand why you would want to do this gree, but many things don't make sense....

I highly doubt that is true.. Not to boast, but I've completed each box 10 event that I've participated in (4) without ever using gold. This most recent one I completed with a higher success rate than the previous, so I doubt your odds decrease between events. Like I said, from the horse's mouth, everyone can make their own decision. I'm less inclined to use gold, but gree can try to entice me by offering a 20k+boost unit next time.

I finished the event with 7/10 crates opened. A few of my faction members finished 10/10 with all cash opens, no gold. Congrats to everyone that didn't waste gold and got the 10/10 unit!

Got stuck on 9 for the last 2.5 days. Resorted to gold for the last day and got number 10 with 3 minutes left on the clock!

Same experience here King Dante. I admit to minimal gold use, but same result everytime.
