Defense Buildings and Defense Building Bonus

So I was just wondering how big of an affect defense buildings really have. Are they a waste of time and money to build and upgrade. I've been playing over a year and don't really see a difference when I have a ton of them or don't have any. Just curious if anyone has any more info on this topic. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

The only reason I build them is to fit in with my decorations, but of course no one can see my decorations

The defense buildings add to you overall defense. So, if you have zero allies, you will still have a defensive rating that reflects your defensive buildings total combined defense.

I wouldn't mind if everyone who is not in my faction got rid of the defense buildings. The composite building is a must have in my opinion, not sure about the others. Placement is the key to them helping.

Bravo, how is the placement of defensive buildings key? Your total defense doesn't go up any more. Does it really help all that much against Raids? My experience shows that it doesn't make much of a difference.

The placemnet of defensive buildings "sam's, rail guns, etc." is key if you are trying to protect your big output buildings. It does not matter where you place your composite factory or the unit buildings that boost the overall attack of the group. I love bases that have all of there defensive buildings at one end of the base all nice and pretty and the million dollar building is on the other side of the base.

    I could be wrong?

I also reserve the right to get smarter if I am not correct, just a view of my experiance in the middle factions. The buildings may not make a bit of differance with people that have mega stats.

for low stats and low allies coutn def building can make a huge difference, but for 1mil def and more with you 500 allies the 75 added with the rail gun isnt a big difference.

Still at a certain point you have a lot more money so expanding once more to put 4 rail guns isnt a big expense, better to have that 300 def more than not have it. Also if they are upgraded to a certan point they should probably give a better boost so while saving better to upgrade those than do nothing (I still think you shouldnt upgrade any of them before alll your boost buildings are at 10 and you unit building are upgrade as far as you need them!)

The "old timers" basically agree that defensive building placement doesn't make a difference regarding raids (see Fl@sh's comment above). They just add to your over-all defense. That "circle of protection" that highlights is just smoke and mirrors.

I can't see that they make too much of a difference.

You want to build them arround your composite and other boost builds if anything. But I agree that placement is irrelevant. Mine is one of thoses bases you love.

Lets try some napkin math. The unboosted def of all my combined def buildings is roughly 1,100. Thats 2,300 boosted. If I could arrange them in a way that all overlap on a single square or building(impossible), that particular building would get an additional 2,300 def on top of my 970k. See my point?

well that makes sence.. i just have them because i want to build 125 buildings.. got them sorted at the end of the base.. don't care about my top buildings, i will collect them on time (mostly xD)
You win some, you lose some..

It's my understanding that the "blue circle" is the range of the boost. Only buildings inside the circle benefit from the added def from the def buildings like a rail gun. Is anyone certain that they add to the overall total? I use them as decorations and vault supplements. If I'm close to having the money for an LE or upgrade I can sell them all off and build them again later. That costs more then a payday loan, but who cares...

The defense buildings add to your overall defense stats... If they all add up to 1000 raw stats... It's like getting a 1,000 defense unit without taking up one of the 2,000 spots... I'll take that without the protection of adjacent buildings

100% they add to your total defence, tested it with a rail gun the other day. Once built defence went up, granted not a huge increase, but it did add to to the total defence stats.
