I think you're better off buying decorations! Although your stats appear to increase with def buildings, mofos still attack me with impunity. I think a better approach, one that I've taken, is to have buildings on a schedule. Have buildings that payout at certain intervals where you know you can check in and collect. This way there is nothing to rob.
