They all do the same, regardless of level or grunt - allow you to bring 3 more units to battle.

So in short you can have a level 1 ally or a level 200 it wont make a difference...you still bring 3 of YOUR OWN units to battle (per ally) regardless

the largest negative behind grunts is that they take the place of someone who may actually attack you if they're in your ally count. Id much rather have "real" allies vs grunts.
You can send a ticket to support and have all grunts removed.
It could take up to two weeks or more for Tech to remove your grunts as it is deemed as non-urgent. I had all my grunts of 51 removed while I was half way through my BD10 run!
