This is getting ridiculous, I understand you have to make money as a company, but when literally EVERYONE in a 60 man syndicate has to spend 100 bucks a piece to finish an event, things are getting out of hand.

Its up to the paying players to put a stop to this. as long as it works, they will keep on doing it. Why would they stop putting it so expensive if people are willing to pay. They will stop when they reach the breaking point...seems they haven't met it yet
If its worth 5$ but people pay 10$, then ask for 10$. Get greedy, ask for 15$ and no one buys, go back to 10$ and don't buy to make a point because you know its a hoax... wait until price goes back to its normal worth.
