Do You Scout Near-Equal Opponents Before an Attack / Capture?

I had a lot of people lose a lot of opportunities to get AP from me this weekend. They would either attack an empty OP without scouting and waste an attack, or get annihilated by my vastly superior army at a different OP.

As a side note, I do often scout, but set it up so it arrives 10 seconds before my attack so I can retreat if I'm going to get whacked.

    Do you scout?

If you're in the middle of heated battle and happen to have superior intelligence, you can also send scouts to all/most of their OP to send a message.

I usually port into a cluster and clean out all the ops before any of them have a chance to run. Some may get away, but it's usually an easy 50 mil ap anyway.

I now typically scout first, I was tired of waiting on attack/returning units just to get the report their base was empty

I like scouting. It provides me a better understanding on what kind of ap I'll receive. Whether it's worth an energy point or not.

I love when people scout. I don't need a sensor then. Also, since the scouts die more easily now without giving a report I don't waste the time in using or building them.

Also attack closer to home...Traveling 5 hours to hit someone is asinine and won't ever do it again. The best part is when they abandon the base and your units hit nothing and get stuck on the spot and you don't know it until the next day..

Well, yeah, most of the time. It's easier to beat someone who is of the same level or a little lower.

No offense, but I was referring to other live players when I asked about "opponents." I would say that scouting does make more sense for NPCs.

I scout so I don't waste energy or time on attacking targets with few units, that way I can get more ap from attacks. If I have a target who I go after often, I'll stop scouting since I know how many units they would normally have.
