Perhaps this has been answered already but I couldn't find it. Does the top tier start at level 100 or 101 and what happens if you enter a new tier in the middle of a boss event?

Starts at 101. Your tier is set at the beginning of the event will not change to the next during the event. "personally verified as well as what I've read".
Calculator is off near the boss #25-30 range by two boss kills but has proven very useful still when you take this small discrepancy into account. don't use the gold totals at the bottom. Add the totals manually.

There was an error in my formula for calculating total number of gold required which has been fixed. Please make sure you download the sheet to your computer for best use.
I should also note that Level 41-50 have been added for all tiers and I'm pretty sure it's correct.
I'm currently working on trying to fix the calc to be able to account for scenarios where it takes you more hits than you'd be able to do while waiting for >1 minute and maximizing the gold refill. I just need to decide on the cutoff, I'm thinking 50 gold or so should be the cut off. In other words, if it requires more than 5 refills, use a factor of 2 refills per 10 gold and that's how much gold it will take. I'm just trying to figure out how to do that in a clean way. I'd prefer it in one cell, but I can do it in two cells...

Epic boss calculator has been fixed. Apparently there was an issue with L41-50 in the sheet. You can access it through the link in my signature.
My second acct is lvl 49 (Tier 2) with actual attack 31800 and still only taking one hit on boss level 12 waiting to see if level 13 is the same...
