Yes yes yes, all these "I'm quitting coz I can't keep up with the spending anymore" complaints.

NO ONE FORCES YOU TO BUY MORE GOLD. NO ONE.

you are the one that's buying gold. If you don't want to buy gold, don't buy it. Join a syndicate that doesn't require gold minimum and compete!
If you are a free player, a non-gold, fully crewed syndicate can easily rank in top 250 and that's 6k free stats.
If you are a light spender, join a light spending syn, and you can rank in top 100 if not 75.
If you are a medium spender, top 25 and 50 will be your dish. 50 dollars from each member will suffice.
If you are a heavy spender, 1000 wins, 3 vaults, whatever, if you can afford it.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS YOU SPEND WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.

If you are not a millionaire and spend 2 grands a month on this game, that's just plainly stupid.
If you are not spending and expect to get top 10 prize, sorry, disappointment is waiting for you down the line.
If you are not playing smart and all you do is complaining about how GREE "just want to make money", congratulations, you just get your first lesson in corporate finance.

One of my accounts is in one were only 3 members spend gold. All three members spend less then $20 a war. and we are in the top 250.

Why do you need full bonus to compete? Since only relatively few syndicates have full bonuses, it's not working against you. And there're a lot of free syndicates that place well. Just check out the recruitment page. Hell, with the way the game is going you'll see more competitive free syns.
