Reset Timer or Magic Key?

For box events with limited Gems is it better to reset the timer or guarantee a box opening?

As we all know to get 8/10->10/10 opens are the most difficult so those of us relying on free gems we want to get the best bang for our free buck.

I would wait the hr and use it on the open box unless ofcourse the event was ending.

I'd agree. Then you at least know that in one hour you will certainly get a box open.
If you reset the timer and then try opening the box with gold, you might still end up with a locked box and have spent gems for naught.

If you're getting really close to the end of the event, like the last hour or so, then spend gems on both timer and box opening.

Thanks for the responses, It does make sense to go for the 100% open, I'm just gonna be angry at getting 1000 gold per open, I just feel it haha. Hopefully I'll get it for free with 6 days left, at 8/10 now.
