A lot of people got an extra 50-65K in free gold in their accounts last night. Those who spent it all apparently get to keep whatever they bought with it. Those who didn't spend it had it taken away. Some who spent part of it got what was left taken away, as well as gold that they didn't want to spend (such as saving X for the next battle... they took X away too).
Funny how the first mention of the free $65 k on the forum appeared after it was taken back.
It is even more funnier that they have deleted earlier post trying to cover it up.

lol i've been in regular fights with an opponent. his score was 10k less than mine and i was kicking him around. all of a sudden his stats grew 60k more than me .. i freaked out but only saw gold purchases. now that's where those weapons came out of. me not so happy cuz he's kicking my butt now. why didn't i get the 60k gold bonus
