New Syndicate Donation Type - Gold

Well a quick look through the data from 3 days ago [20130221_7] seems to imply that we will be able to donate gold. Anybody like this idea of pooling gold for everyone to use?

MW has the same thing. Haven't seen any evidence its used besides that column. I'm wondering if there's some conversion that the event/guild needs to process refills.
