I wouldn't go as far as nuking them. Technological military might exist to stop them without having to use nukes.

The Missle interceptors their sending to Guam are mainly to protect that region, South Korea,Japan and US bases I think. As for North hitting US homeland. I don't see that happening. I'm more worried of what stance will the Chinese take should war break out.

They test fired 1 successful long ballistic Missle ( without carrying a warhead ) in a decade. Requires more than one would think to successfully launch one with a warhead,let alone a nuclear warhead. The North themselves are of no real competition to the US or even South Korea anymore because they are soo far behind in every aspect. Their threat is the bigger picture of possibly starting ww3. Iraqs military was looked at as strong too, the revolutionary guards the most brutal and loyal not to be underestimated...yet we rolled into their capital within weeks.

Always a possibility it could start ww3. And they defintley would lose pretty quickly. The Korean War was dragged out a little bit only because of Russia's support to the north. If Russia did the same again, I don't think it would drag it out as much as the past. Only reason I can see china backing the north is how badly do they NOT want US on their borders. China isn't in the same league as the US yet but economically , their growth is that of ours in th 50s and with a war. It might get even better.

Kim Jong Un would not be so stupid to start a war. He is fully aware his country's position, Starting a war = self destruction.. What he has been doing are all empty threat, just to gain more bargaining power during negotiation for more aids from other countries. The Chinese government and the US should have noticed this point.
