after the AUCTION ends in 15 minutes, they need to gather winners info and do other "work" on the servers before launching the boss, that takes time

Too right, and who can blame them? The auction events are difficult; it's not straightforward to get 10 "whatever" and you get loads of XP in the process. However the boss event is predicatable, there is no element of chance and a strong player can reap good rewards. 1 rare is probably better than the 15 "urn" item. IMO they need to make the auction rewards better, especially for the 5 item reward. As @allbreezy pointed out a while ago their is little point in competing in the auctions when the boss events reap so much more substantial rewards.

That shock is common to first time buyers. There's information in the forums that will give you an idea of what to expect gem-wise in the events. Here's a breakdown for anyone else thinking of buying gems so you know what to expect.

Box Events:

For One stone/blade/whatever the item is; 120 gems for one without using resets / 200 gems with resets; on average.

For Top 50 - expect to need at least 5,000 gems if bottom is 50-60 items. Add 1500 gems for every 10 items the bottom T50 rises up. Ex, if its 68 then 8,000 gems. Be prepared to possibly spend another 1500+ gems in the last couple hours if you're hugging the cutoff. The better the Bonus, the higher the cut-off will climb.

The smartest and most effective way to participate in the Box Events is to hit one of the Bonus gem amounts in a month ($500/$1,000/$2,000/$5,000/etc) then wait to receive your bonus gems and then do a Top50 when you have at least 10k gems on hand. For the $500 tier you will have 10,000 gems total (5 x 1500 + 2500 bonus gems).

Keep in mind you will be competing with players who regularly receive 10,000-50,000+ extra gems a month.

In 5 boss events I have received about 22 rares averaging 100/100 stats, 30 uncommons averaging 37/37 (?) stats, and who knows how many commons. I have also received 3 units with 975/750 stats and the 3 lower tier units averaging about 180/180 (?) stats and have spent about 600-650 gems total.

That adds to my stats 2200/2200 from the rares, 1110/1110 from the uncommons, 540/540 from the lower tier units (for beating boss 15/20/15), and 2925/2250 from the level 30 boss units. Try getting that kind of value from the auction events. As GiO pointed out you can expect to spend

About the same for me (not sure how many rares and uncommons and too lazy to go count) but no gems needed whatsoever... Love the boss events.
