Imagine this... it's Spring 2012, you're rocking it large in Crime City, stats of 190 Attack and Defense means you are one of the games big hitters, a one man army in fact, capable of taking on and beating the best of the best.
At the top of the game, seen it all, done it all. What's left but to bow out at the top? So you retire and walk off into the sunset, knowing that you made a difference, that you were someone in Crime City.
Fast forward to Autumn 2012, and you're thinking "Yeah, time for me to go and flex my muscles again, remind these chumps who the boss is".
Unfortunately, the passage of just a few months has seen many changes, and many game-changing additions...
Scratchers arrived of course, with a daily Common-crate-equivalent item for all.
And of course Epic Boss events, that drop Common-crate-equivalents like rain from the sky, and a Boss item of previously impossible stat-boosting power, again accessible to all.
Add to that the now infamous Ammo crates, that mistakenly dropped Rares at the same rate as Uncommons - every Gold spender gorged themselves on Ammo crates, and for many their stats went supersonic.
Finally mix in a scattering of special events with powerful prizes available to everyone at every level.
What you end up with is a situation whereby Stats of anything below 200k means you are only 'above average' in the big boy stakes, because now stats of 400k + are necessary to be a big name, a big shot, a big gun.
So what then for our returning hero? An afternoon of imagined bullying turned to dust in the reality of a game completely different to the one he walked away from only a few short months ago.
The anticipation of hitting a once weedy foe, smuggly planning the "10-0 chump!" wall post to announce his glorious return, the smugness promptly replaced by shocked surprise at the red writing looming large in the centre of the screen. "Lost, LOST, this can't be right"', a rapid check of the foes stats, "WTF, this can't be right, he's a hacker, he must be hacking".
Alas not, no hacking, no foul - it's just that time has robbed him of his former self.
Warrior turned hand-maiden. It's a sad and sorry tale. Imagine if it happened.
