Why did this guy show up on my rival list? Level 81 with 1479 allies, I am level 67 with 125.
I attacked him by accident and lost 27k or so. Kinda bogus, I hope he doesn't keep attacking me...
Now that I think about it, I lost twice in a row, once to this guy and once to another. Probably another f*** up with the rivals list. I don't often lose, so I attack blindly - I don't have time to be meticulous...
Of course strange to see such gap, ... but you know the rule
If you don't have time for rules, you take your risk. And MW does not seem to be the kind of game where always everything is according order/logic/etc.
Was he the same rank as you? My list sorts rivals by rank sometimes and i can see levels 49 - 71 ish.
Nawww not even. I dunno, ever since I added allies (went from 115 or so to about 130) for the epic enemy event (which adding allies didn't even help) I've been seeing people with 300+ and whatnot, kinda weird right?? There's gotta be plenty of people in my level/ally range...

I notice changes too! I used to never see anyone above 280 allies. I have 180ish. Now today I'm seeing above 1500. Lol, I just hope they can't see me.

I'm having the same issues. At lvl 68 now, increased my allies from 190-210 for the event but I see rivals from lvls 61-101 with as many as 1510 allies! Good thing I check them out before hitting them. Sent a ticket. Oh yeah, also see ppl with as few as 100 allies, which is completely unfair to them!!

having the same issue as well. seeing guys from lvl (61 to 89) and allies range from (60 to 385). One guy was at lvl 89 with 60 allies which means he no longer plays
I think they are experimenting with new ranges. Probably to please some disgruntled customers.
