too many alliance members. 55 allies are an ideal number for level 11...
the trick is when you have alliance requests, dont accept them all at once. you manually accept ally corresponding to your level.
the optimized way is alliance member happens to be your level times 5, which renders you the biggest capacity of army while you wont be exposed to some way too powerful players.

I don't think it should have to do with level, but with making sure your allies have enough equipment. I myself am at the same level, but I have less allies and far more equipment. If you allies have enough equipment (I think 4 per, according to the game) then you are doing fine, regardless of your level. Once you get to that point, then you need to improve the quality of the equipment that your allies have.

I have twice your attack and defence and quadruple your income. I think you should concentrate on increasing your income (money buildings) and start buying more equipment. I haven't been attacked in days, much less lost any battles.
