I'll be doing that sometime. Have got the new set of Keaton's shorts to watch first though.

    Two more turtle movies

    Gamera vs. Jiger (1970) - 5/10
    Gamera vs. Zigra (1971) - 5/10

Shame the studio decided to orient this series so hard at young children.

    Proxy War (Kinji Fukasaku, 1973) - 10/10

Third part of the "Battles Without Honour And Humanity" series. I'm continually amazed how writer and director manage to maintain such standards at a furious pace. This was the third film to come out in 1973, with the last two in 1974. Not quite so much violence in this movie, which concentrates more on the politicking and factionalism within the yakuza gangs of western Japan in the early 60s.

    Police Tactics (Kinji Fukasaku, 1974) - 10/10

The fourth (and intended to be the final) part of Battles Without Honour And Humanity. Police Tactics is in effect, Proxy War, Part 2. It was so successful a fifth film was made later in '74.

Battles Without Honour And Humanity: The Final Chapter (Kinji Fukasaku, 1974) - 9/10

A perfectly fine film in its own right, but does feel like a slight afterthought to the series, which it was really. It's interesting that when the Toei company made a 224 minute combined saga of the whole series in 1980, they didn't include any of this film in it. Great series of films.

    Lady Snowblood (Toshiya Fujita, 1973) - 10/10

Classic Japanese revenge movie, and one of the biggest influences on Kill Bill.
