Big difference between gold free and non compulsory gold use, we finish at least top 250 FL and WD if people use gold its up to them but nobody is required to use it

That's pretty much where we are. We have a few that use low gold, a few that use a lot of gold, but most no gold and no requirement to do so.

Then you would be wrong. My two test factions do not use gold, each are 14 players running via game linking on an iPad and Droid tablet. I maybe play 5-10 battles per WD and rank in the top 1000 with both. I only play for fun, when it becomes work I walk away. I do not do any of the FL events because they are a waste of time. Considering I'm the only one tapping I don't think that's bad. I bet there are much higher level gold free factions.

There used to be a completely gold free team in cc about a couple of years ago.. Don't remember their faction name.. They broke up.. But as far as what I had heard they were about top 150.. If I were not so loyal to my syndicate then I would have definitely applied since I was a 0 gold player..
I was under the impression that they had the same team in MW too.. Any old timer remember their name?

I think SUP would be the highest "non gold" faction since they get their gold from their inside man... Now where did I leave my tin foil hat?
We are gold free except 1 maybe 2 players who spend a moderate amount. We have been in top 200 last WD and last FL. Most of us use free gold if we can stock some up but its all about activity from all members being faction first and doing what they can when and how.
Built To Hurt is gold optional, I have a few friends there. The minimums are low enough to get with basic regen and no gold. They are a top 50 team that finishes everything.
Built To Hurt is a great team. The teamwork and commitment is impressive, as is the friendly family-like environment they have. No one is ever pressured into spending money on the game and cash donations aren't necessary as all bonuses are maxed. The members range from peculiar, passionate, and arousing. I'm also going to throw in the words salacious and eccentric since I have my thesaurus open. Minimums are low for a t50 and very achievable if you're active.
