I got it because "why not?" It only cost gold I earned for free.

I probably don't really need it, but this is one of the few things that Gree has done that is actually pretty cool. I like to support good/cool ideas to encourage more good/cool ideas.

Unfortunately for Gree, this reasoning prevents me from using gold, either paid or earned free, for anything else in this game since the 6.0/accomplice update.

Well my attack is only about 117 mill so I'd say i retired before the huge stat inflation or should i just say i stopped doing any att def missions at all dropped out of my syn and just collect my money now and look for building mods

Accidentally. I tapped on it to see what it was bc the screen with the buildings and the upgrade specialist hadn't popped up- just the guy that looks like an accomplice. When I did tap I lost my 100 gold immediately. I don't spend gold on bldgs or upgrades, just energy for RB and battle. Anyway,my here went 100 gold down the drain. I can already upgrade 2 at a time. Don't care if I have 3.
