If it makes you feel any better last week our final matchup was with a 7 man llp faction that was ranked 2000. None of us could score more than 100-150WD points off them and it was an ugly battle.
Better yet we matched a 2 man team a couple months ago for our final battle that was ranked in the top 5000.
Usually the entire time we get top 10/25 teams with the occasional 50/75 team but gree likes playing a wild card for the final battle some reason.

haha it wasn't your fault i just thought it was funny and i was genuinely excited to get a good target. I refused to spend gold and only used free refills for this WD and when i saw i had someone worth hitting i bought more refills, however didn't use them since the battle ended early!
