GREE has run these events (legally, somehow) for years, and most old timers know that the odds of winning them are pretty small. I think the difference now is that the intermediate steps have much smaller rewards, if any at all. For example, in every previous raid boss, finishing quest 39 normal generally got you a nice unit with some sort of bonus. This time around, all your hard work got you a certificate with no boost to any part of your game. The other events were similar - reduced, temporary, or no bonuses where in past events, there would be some sort of nice perk for finishing. The carrot at the end of all this relied *entirely* on an event almost as level as a game of 3-Card Monty.
