The defense buildings add bonus to the defense.. say you have max equiptment for your level.. the buildings continue to add once your maxed out from equipt.

imo the best thing to do with skill points is energy... atleast in the beginning

remember that you can only actually use 5 mobsters per level also, if your level 10 and have 400 mobsters you only actually use 50. therefore if you had 55 trench coats, and buy 15 more, 20 of them...
