It's on par for how Gree likes to do things. You figure it's stats are almost as good as a T50 unit and those take a ton of gems. This can be achieved more cheaply.

Nope. 2 (5's) only payout 240k, a single 10 is 450k. So you'd need 2 lvl 7's to almost match a 10. :-p

Increase your Allies if you're not already at 500
Max out on 1500 High Priests or Dragons

Yep. Which is why you'll always see the cheater's with 5,000 of the most expensive armor/weapons/units and not a shred of a gem anything.
