Be persistent but cordial with support. If you get automated, scripted responses just continue to reply to them. Eventually, you will get it refunded. May take a month or two but thats the reality...

It is some unknown random variable in there equations assuming you believe it exists. There is no way to know if it truly works or is one of those invisible non-working random factors.
