I have the same problem as OP but have never used a money glitch (no idea what that even is) or used bad language.

They are rigged to make you buy gold, that's why they now run events just one after the other with pretty much no break.

You should alternate your expansion generally, but it doesn't matter if you don't alternate every single time. For example, I needed some more space so I expanded in the same direction as last time...
