The human imagination is limited in that it can only grope haltingly towards things, places, or concepts it hasn't already been "in reality". We can conceive amazing things...but those things are usually grounded in the reality of our current existence. It is the visionaries of our culture who leap beyond these limitations, or who are "ahead of their time".
