My husband started the guild and we have been trying to build it. Been working against people who join and not contribute.
We are now pared down to next to nothing - and still managed to stay in the top 1250. We don't promote the use of gems. You can use them if you want to, but my personal thought is that my real money stays in the bank, not on a game.
He is a level 154 a/d over 220000, I am a level 115 a/d 183000/176000 and we have 3 additional solid/contributing daily players in the guild - all with a/d well over 100,000.
Hate to lose all the stones and gold by abandoning the guild we have and joining another one, so merging with another guild is not something we are really considering at this time.
Everyone is an officer (at least the active and contributing players) on KOM with the authority to approve new members. The only limitation is buying bonuses and building the walls and such...but Rock is very good about that (he is, after all, my husband). Give it some thought.
Time zones are an important consideration I have found - we are on central time.
Standard bonuses are there...more to come with more contributing members (I personally have put in over 4 1/2 million in gold and close to 500 stones into this guild)

I am at level 173 (456 allies) - attack is 425K, defense is 421K. iph is 10,584. I am active (current LTQ finished 25/26 of heroic). I am not a gem player, but daily/weekly gold donations is not a problem.
Current guild I am in merged, gem players went to the higher guild and the players that are left are very low. I would be surprised if we ended in the top 1250. (which is why I am looking elsewhere)
Before the merger, our guild was top 200. I am looking at going there again or better.
