Do Atk and Def skill points do anything at all???

I need to know, I have been sitting on a few skill points because nothing seems worth it. I have enough energy to go 9 hours before refilled, enough stamina, and then there's Atk and Def...... I want to put them there, since the other two categories are good for now. But, I see sometimes that people here say Atk and Def skill points are completely worthless, and have been proven this way.

So, I ask for you to weigh in, and give me more than just an answer. I want proof, or at least a reason why you feel this way.

After skill points were hacked a year ago, their effect was made negligible. There were people that had millions (nowadays even a million added to your attack or defense would be irrelevant anyway).
