Hey everyone!

I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre, and I'll bet quite of few Kingdom Age players are too! I'm always looking for new books and movies (or TV shows!) and I'd love to hear some of your all time favorites (I'm also a big fan of lists).

A quick reminder: Please kindly remember that we've all got different likes and dislikes. While constructive critiques and polite debate is fine, please remember to be civil and let's keep things clean. Thanks!

Here's my list:

Books

- Sabriel - Garth Nix
- Crown Duel - Sherwood Smith
- Cinder - Marissa Meyer (though this might be closer to sci-fi...)
- Larklight - Phillip Reeve
- Howl's Moving Castle - Diana Wynne Jones

Movies

- The Princess Bride
- Lord of the Rings
- How to train your dragon
- Spirited Away

There's definitely more, but I'll keep it short since I'd like to hear your lists!

The Inheritance Cycle (4 books so far) by Christopher Paolini, and the Painted Man series (3 books so far) by Peter V. Brett are incredible, you should give them a read!

Thanks for sharing Domiwyvern and Rossta4249!

I'm definitely a Miyazaki fan, but I'm not familiar with the others mentioned! I'll be sure to check them out sometime!

Anyone else have some good fantasy genre books/movies they'd like to share?

The Black Company
The Malazan Book of the Fallen
Acacia trilogy
Every Joe Abercrombie book!

all three series in the same vein as game of thrones books, all 3 are better IMHO. And complete. Abercrombie is, by far, the best thing going right now. The absolute pinnacle of dark fantasy.

for lighter reading, The Chronicles of Prydain is still the best fantasy series ever written.

Hey Weepit!

Thanks for the share! The Prydain Chronicles was actually my first fantasy series which made me a fantasy book genre fan! I'd forgotten about it! (Hooray for Assistant Pig Keepers!)

I'm going to have to find them in my bookshelves somewhere to give them another read for nostalgia!
