Weapon list

Can anyone provide a rhyme or reason to how the weapons are listed in the inventory? The only way I find things is by attacking someone and then they are listed by stats high to low.

But true, it is pretty frustrating looking through your inventory or your maffia friends. seems there is no logical order but complete chaos.
