View Full Version : What are peoples' views on this new epic & epic chest deal?

I just want to know what people think about all of this, it seems like a new chest every week - more gems required - we are having an epic chest 24/7, and more and more epics are being pushed out very quickly. I learned my lesson last time I bought a load of chests when I received no more than garbage.

Seriously are they continuously making money from these chests 24/7 with ridiculously low odds? Will this end up killing off this game? Is this too much too soon, or just too far? just want opinions that's all. :)

My opinion is that they just want you to continuously spend money 24/7 non stop etc. And obviously it's down to the individual how much you spend and how often, but can it get much worse than this?

It's about time they did permanent epic chests

The chest with new epics will keep coming. Gree as a profit making company would just milking this cash cow. It's an endless cycle.

As for the opening of chest, as a player you can chose not to open chest or just open them with free gems that you get in game. I have friends who never spend a dime on this game. All his epics are obtained through his hard work. That I admire him!

Don't open the chest; it's bugged!

E/A epic doesn't actually exist yet!

I like to go to a gas station whenever I want. Not have to wait for the special fuel chest to be available. They aren't forcing you to do anything 24/7. Buy or don't buy. This place has more whine than a party store.

Cheaper chests + 15 extra fusion boost armors... I don't think the extra armor really matters? And it is a legendary, you can just fuse it away.

Gree is just trying to make money. If you give them your money its on you. Cant blame them for trying.

Just be playing instead of paying.

New epics will be released every week, that's for sure... why? Because an epic armor is given as arena reward

The only content in the game is new EB and new GW armor.

EB isn't even new anymore. We're looking at re-used artwork with different coloring three weeks in a row. Give em a month, they'll fire another developer, and it'll be re-colored armors made as epics with a small visual movement.

I opened 40 chests last night and got zero epics. I sent an email complaint to GREE and got "due to higher than normal volume...". Ummm yea, when you treat customers like that your volume goes up. I'm an avid player and 2nd round of opening 40 chests. I got two epics out of the Winter Chest, which I could live with. 0-1 and I wouldn't waste my money. I would just use the gems to fight more and use fusion. What is 3x if they lower the original 1x to .0001 and then call it 3x and put a sale on gems. I call it false advertising. I'm not logging back into the game until I get a response from GREE. They can have the armors back and the fusions and refund my money or I'm going to dispute with my bank. Already called them this am and they said no issue. One thing in my favor... My wife will be happy if GREE does nothing:)

Not crying. It's only $100USD/70Euro. It's the principal.
Where did you find the 5x = 3% Epic/1% Epic?

4.5% odds of an epic per key, means an average of one epic every 22.2 keys (at 5x). 1x would be .9%, so 3x would be2.7%. If the current chest is 3x then the average should be one epic every 37 keys.

Yet Eun says he got 2 epics with 275 keys (11,000/40). That would be .72% odds.

I think Eun has the odds of an epic+ too high. I've tracked 1000 keys in my guild before and we got 1 epic+ versus loads of epics. Not a 2/1 ratio.

If you spend enough at the casino they will refund 20% of any losses you have.

Not that this is relevant to your point.

At the Casino I know my odds. In this game per conversations, limited experience & advertising I expected to get 2 Epics. Maybe 1 or maybe 3, but not zero. I now realize that 3x doesn't have very much value and definitely has less value than 6 months ago. The way advertised I would expect 3x to hold the same value over time. I love this game and have an insane amount of time invested. The available info from GREE is very vague in all areas of the game (fusion, battle, chests, armor upgrades, boss fights, etc.), so I probably shouldn't have had the expectation that for every $100 spent you get 1-3 Epics. I should have read the fine print somewhere. Since I couldn't find any I posted here:) You all have definitely help broaden my knowledge on opening chests.

You don't know much about math do you?

Even if the odds are 99% to pull an epic, it is statistically possible to get 0 in 100 pulls. It's called risk. Even at 99% there is a 1% risk. There is no false advertising. They advertised risk. You took risk. They owe you nothing, and they don't care if you log back in. I, however, would love it if you didn't log back into the forums until you got a response from Gree. Also, you should hold your breath, while under water, until you get a response. I'm sure they'll hurry right up.

I misunderstood your earlier post then. That puts him more or less right on the numbers. It's still 5.5/1 Epic/Epic+ as opposed to 2/1. But the overall numebrs are consistent. I still think Epic+ are rarer than .45% base odds. More like .2%-.25%

Maybe it's different for different chest, but I got my on + epic from one of three winter keys. That I would say is beating the odds pretty hard if they are like you guys say.

It's all up to you if you want to spend money on the game, and how much. But you have to remember, for us it's a game, for the programmers who made it, and for Gree, it's their job. They have to pay their rent and food and stuff from what they earn with this game and the other games they make. There is nothing wrong with them trying to seduce you to spend money. And if you hav already spent several hundreds of dollars, it apparently works :).
Personally I don't spend money on phone games, and I don't have a lot of trouble playing this game and having fun doing that, so I think Gree is doing a good job since you can play this game with fun and without spending money, but they also encourage you to spend money if you're ambitious about the game.

3 is not a representative sample size to draw a conclusion from. Even 275 keys leaves a sizeable margin of error.

Oh I agree, but seeing how people open hundreds of chests with maybe one non-+ epic to show for it, getting one out of three must be considered increadbly lucky. At least I thought so and still do. I would never go for the 999 gems deals just because I hear so much about failure to get anything out of value and that the guaranteed fusion boosts where more or less a main reason, so when I get three keys for free and wind up with a beastmaster + I think that mathematically this must be outrageously beating the odds. I'm really not contributing to the topic though, sorry for that

You forgot that you used 275 chests instead of the 400 that he actually opened. 40 chests were 1,100 gems and he said he used 11,000 gems so presumably he did actually open 400 chests (because why would you buy 11k gems and buy 275 chests separately instead of 400).

If you don't spend money, then you must be happy finishing at the bottom of every perverbial barrel in the game. Cause I know you probably have a bad arena record, finish guild wars lower than 8000, and think using armor with 8xx/5xx stats makes you competitive...

Old news. Three fusions later I got this thing.

I'd rather waste 75 free fusion stones than 100$ for 2 Epics though.

Time spent for getting them and legends was high for sure, when spending time on work and getting money to spend here would give more profit i think. Who knows.

Anyways, congrats.
