View Full Version : So how do you afford the game? :)

01-09-2014, 12:04 AM
So i'm going to ask the question we all ask and all wonder how...... how do you all afford the game? 100 dollars every 800 gems? or at best 60 dollars for 800 gems.... these numbers begin to add up.

Before you know it you have spent over 4 thousand maybe even 8 thousand.

So... what do you guys do for a living? O.o how can this be afforded?!

be honest

i spam the movies that let you click them all day. and get about 200 gems out of it. a lot of ppl who play the games on FB, Andriod, and ios that seem like they are always on, are stay at home mom/dads, or ppl on disability/retirement and can afford to blow money on a hobby like this all day.i use to be in a guild on a FB game full of retired/disabled ppls. they spent ridiculous amounts on the game.

i not buy gems... i watch only on videos...

01-22-2014, 04:56 AM
I'm broke ;-; this sucks. gree stole 2400 gems off me too after an account transfer.

02-18-2014, 09:37 PM
Need to be able to post threads but the money thing is a great question because I need to find some wallet warriors

02-19-2014, 12:23 PM
actually it is too much for me as well so i dont buy gems that much

02-20-2014, 09:58 AM
Some people have insane amounts of disposable income and this is their hobby. Some people spend money on liquor, some on magic the gathering cards, some on hookers. Others, on KND.

03-02-2014, 03:09 PM

03-23-2014, 07:53 AM
I don't buy gems. At best I do some easy free offers.

03-28-2014, 05:03 AM
only videos watching for me.

04-01-2014, 05:19 PM
Just do free offers every now and then.

04-01-2014, 08:47 PM
i can't bring myself up to actually spending money on a free game. totally rockin eb+ armor haha

I have wondered myself. I make a very good living. I am a cancer researcher. Life can be good. Back in November, I went on a 200k+ streak. That was a bit too much. I cannot imagine gemming enough for 500k+ per war. I have a 6 figure income, and that would drain my wallet.

04-05-2014, 03:17 AM
I do the free videos and apps to get my gems.

04-22-2014, 11:00 AM
I buy gems when they go on sale sometimes but mostly do the videos.

I sign up for AdSense and post crappy videos earning about $1,300 - $3,500 a month(BTW this is for YouTube. Videos to get the money!).

04-25-2014, 12:00 AM
I'm a chef, but certainly not a millionaire. I dropped $500 around month six. Now I just spend 5-25$ occasionally. For wars or epic bosses. Chests are usually free gems. Only have really good luck if you buy 40 in my case.

04-28-2014, 04:34 PM
I sell my "services" on Craigslist

05-09-2014, 10:44 AM
I'm by no means an amazing player, mainly because I don't spend money on gems either, but I make do without them or wasting my time with the free offers. Just make good use of the timers, and you can still end up being a relatively solid player.

05-13-2014, 06:15 PM
I just watch the videos as much as possible. I do occasionally buy gems but I don't like to.

Totally worth it....wonder how much my soul would go for...

05-27-2014, 07:42 PM
Pay...? You mean I have to shell out for this, too? *grumble*

06-01-2014, 08:45 PM
I just spend money on the game, its a easy as spending money on other crap that is useless. I don't have any obligations other than standard living costs.

06-02-2014, 01:32 PM
I take Google surveys for Google play money and then spend that.

06-03-2014, 03:03 PM
Beware the Lays vs Ruffles "free" survey...not only do you NOT get gems at the end, but the dang thing takes about an hour to complete! :(

06-03-2014, 08:09 PM
Mostly videos and flash sales. I don't spend a lot - I usually score an epic on opening 40 chests and spend a lot of time leveling that up before I get bored and spend again.

06-08-2014, 10:05 AM
I just have rich parents and they give me money, which I'm spending on this game sometimes. Easy as that

06-17-2014, 07:39 PM
Watch videos, get 16k points in Arena. I rarely throw my money in KnD. Save gems until you have enough to join top 10. :p

06-25-2014, 02:44 AM
Watch for gem and itunes card sales. Only buy when these 2 things happen.

06-27-2014, 07:31 PM
Barely.. Watching videos, EB and arena.

About 60 gems a week - VPN included. Hardly worth the time.

Always tempted to buy but then i think i think of the prices and the gem cost+chances. Also, when entering the gem store everything is in dollars though i live in Denmark..

1800 gems: 1099.59$
800 gems: 560.32$
375 gems: 280.13$

And so on.. It has been like that for a loooong time. So cant afford it unless i dont care about bills and life it self.

06-29-2014, 03:59 PM
What i do beyond the point.

The real question should be how do you resist buying gems when they are 40% off.

06-29-2014, 04:11 PM
It's pretty easy to resist when your bank balance is $0... ;)

I'm always waiting on the gems discounts (30 % is a nice one  ) if I decide to buy some. Otherwise I also watch the video offers, sometimes get the recommended application from google store and meet the requirements to obtain gems from it. Apart from this, as everyone - fighting in the arena, completing quests and competing in all the events ;-)

I'm in the $25-40 range per week, since this game allows me to destress, I consider it "what I used to spend at the bar" money.
If I catch a 40% sale and I'm itching for some new armor I may splurge but other than that I'm pretty good with my budget

I work about 10hrs of OT each paycheck. I use that extra $$ for gems. I tend to try and only buy during 30-40 % sales though.

I generally have 100-150 gems each weekend for whatever guild event (I haven't learned yet how to save up for specific events.) Now I'm not part of a top 25 guild but this last weekend on the Royal Skeleton Raid I made 7.1 million points. If I had spent the whole weekend spending my points every 2 hours I think I would have easily doubled my score. Additionally, I was using two 4star+ and one epic that was weak to 1 element. Per attack I was doing 55-60k. I think if I was rocking strong/strong epic+, another strong epic+ and a strong/strong epic I could easily have been doing another 1.5x dmage per attack.

I guess my point is as an average player who did not spend a ton of gems I got 7 million. If I had been attacking every chance I could, wearing more appropriate armor, and dedicating my life to KND over the weekend, I probably could've gotten close to 40 million. At that point I would've been at the low end of the DK members.

eBay often has iTunes cards on sale for US people. I then save those for the 30% off or better gem deals. I look at it this way. On the weekends I push, I could spend $50 on dinner and a movie, or $50 hanging with friends online at home.

I also do a bit of free videos (though the tapjoy ones don't pay me), and saving what I get from game play.

Between Saturday and today (6 days) i've watched over 150 free videos in the free gems option and opened a bunch of chests. I don't think you need to spend real money on this game. If you have the ability to save and never spend you could accumulate a bunch of gems easily.

my videos don't work as well as they used to (tapjoy doesn't pay me for some reason), but I've heard through the g**** vine that people aren't getting as many tapjoy videos anymore, so i will have to try them again. But honestly, what I get from game play, arena rewards, free chest rewards, and what few videos I get that pay, I could do t25 ever couple of months totally free (if I don't spend any in the in between times). It is doable. I just get impatient and pay, lol. But always with a itunes card bought on sale and always with a good gem sale (prefer the holiday pack...I save for those!).

Spare change/itunes cards as gifts

01-07-2015, 09:50 PM
I use an app called Feature Points. What you do in this app is basically download apps and games try them out for a few minutes and get points. After enough points are accumulated, then the player can use them to purchased iTunes or Android gift cards, which in turn can be spent on gems. It takes about 2 or 3 hours to obtain a $10 gift card and about a week for a $25 gift card. I have attached a link where you guys can try it out for yourselves.

The videos aren't working and I am too broke to buy gems. So I try to be patient and collect gems from the raid, arena and daily recievements. I was frustrated two weeks ago and spend like 300 precious gems on that last epic chests. Ofcourse got nothing out of it hahah.
