Question about casualty reduction bonus

Anyone know if casualty reduction bonus would help reduce how hard we get hit when fighting the boss (say -20% per hit instead of -25% each time) or if it only helps us reduce unit loss?

The casualty reduction has no effect on the boss event. It is only a reduction in the rate of which destructible units die off.
