I've officially going gem free!! I spent over 3 mountains and still stuck on 9/10 Gree Wtf... While free players are at 7/10... I get a nice 16k unit for an extra 200-300 hundred dollars! Great just great!! No more..I've been spending hundreds of dollars each month. After I use up these 700 gems I'm officially going gem free.. No more money in your greedy pockets!

Its said every box event. Its a lottery and there is not guarantee to get 10 coins even if you spend several mountains of gems. The odds get better though but no guarantee. Converting to gemfree player sounds healthy for you.

The occasional "easy one" keeps people spending gems on these events. They get trully fed up with them, then they get one where it costs just a couple hundred gems and all of a sudden back on the Box Event bandwagon.
I'm not a heavy gemmer at all anyways, but I stay away from these entirely.

Box events are gambling...
a. To bet on an uncertain outcome, as of a contest.
b. To play a game of chance for stakes.
BUT
Unlike casino gambling where odds can be calculated, box event odds are unknown. Personally, I believe Gree has shifting odds on boxes based on: event, number of gems spent, and number of coins you already have. Of course, everyone gets lucky once in a while - as I got 10/10 completely free for the Chalice event for the "Spirit of Chalice" with 20% Magic attack. As stated by Blade, the chalice is the "sucker" event that lures people in. Since I believe that Gree changes odds for every box event, I have never spent a penny on them....(*I hope this doesn't get me banned again*). If so, I will see you all in a week.
after spending thousands on this game (dont tell my wife), I have gone gem free, it felt like addiction withdrawl at first but I am now over it and feel better and can afford to go out to dinner more often

I can tell you this, after over 126 worthless units it goes on a percentage scale. With gold you have about a 35% chance of qualifying for getting anything then you're into the round with a less than 1% chance of getting an ancient coin.

Why don't you try the gold option up until close to the end? I don't use gems at all and have got to ten on several occasions. You may as well give just the gold a try and if it comes down to it that you still need a few at the end, then use your gems. But overall, I imagine you could save a few gems (and $$$) by not rushing through it quite as much. Of course, it does take a lot more time so if you can't log-in on a regular basis then gems is probably your best option. Good luck!
And I probably just jinxed myself and will be stuck on 9 coins for 3 days.
there seem to be a lot of games out there that are not giving player a "random chance". I play several slot machine games and it is obvious that the closer you get to completing an event, the tougher the odds get

I thought you were leaving already Ratma?
I'm quitting now. My guild founder role is being transferred and then I'm out. It's been a good time but now it's just a frantic race not to be left behind. The fun is gone (no pun intended) and I'm looking for a good life without any Greed games.

My level 15 mini got 10/10 without using gems - got 3 in a row today to finish.
its just total luck
Personally, I believe Gree has shifting odds on boxes based on: event, number of gems spent, and number of coins you already have.
The first and third are true and always have been (we've mentioned as much multiple times) but the second speculation is not. We do tweak things between events (we tweak just about every event, whether it is collect 10 or boss difficulty or drop rates or whatnot, to see what works best). And in collect-10 or collect 20/25 events (but not leaderboards), getting one of the special items decreases the chance of getting the next one. But it does not vary from account to account or take any other factors into consideration; everyone has the same percentage chances as everyone else who is at the same step of the event.
EDIT: Nor does it have to do with level or anything else like that. It's just a flat percentage based on how many of the tokens you already have.

So the more you have the less you get !......seems fair from your side of the fence....i will look at it from this side..i had 6 all gold option then i unload 500 gems cause im stingy and think i should get at least 1-2 for my outlay considering it cost 20 to reset timer and 20 to open = 40 gems per try so around 12 tries
and all i got was low stat unit or honour ?? sliding scale seems to be working for you but for others its not
so for 500 gems you can add about 1,000 in stats providing they show in your army which given my level they dont...so wasted . i would be better off getting scratchies 500 gems @ 10 gems each= 50 scratchies with chance of getting 50-80K unit...
spent another 500 just for shyte and giggles to see the difference.....best unit was 400 stat unit, still better than Coin unit , but would it show in my army ?? no
if i was low level maybe but im not
so i would pose that those wishing to spend gems be very reserved in using them save them for Raid Boss or something.
CJ maybe you should look at gem users at least having a better advantage than gold or free opens, as your statement implies that using gems is a waste of time anyway as proven by above post.
it seems you are trying to allure your customers into a false pretence that IF the use gems they will have better chances than those using other methods!
Shame.
Well, it needs to be increased, plain and simple... You guys make plenty enough in gems on these events, throw us a bone during the season of 'giving'. All you try to do is take, manipulate, and lead us on. It's getting old and people are slowly catching on.

What difference does it make if a free player can collect 10 and I spend a couple hundred bucks to be stuck on 9? Why the hell would I continue to fork over money to play these events? What advantage do I get by spending money? Everyone is right I admit I'm a dumbass for forking over money but never again.

i would like CJ54 to give us their sliding scale of percentage to getting these coins ?
it would be a nice gesture considering all the wasted gems you are shaving from everyone.

oh i believe you, as far as the number of coins you have and per event. But ive also seen enough that i know for certain the rate in the first and last few hours is way way higher than the rest of the event. Which also seems a little unfair to me.
But yes, it IS as random for me as it is for everyone else.

Translation: don't waste your money on these events. You have just as much chance of getting the prize for free as you do for gems.

The advantage there is already inherent; gems result in more potential chances and automatic opens (which aren't assured by the other means).

No, it doesn't work like that. It's natural to assume all kinds of voodoo based on results from a small sample size, but the chances don't change during the event.

CJ,
Does the number of other players that have already gotten the grand prize have any affect on the open rate for everyone?
I used a total of 80 gems. Twice resetting
Timer and twice auto win. Got my 10
Early this morning.

You're lucky, very lucky. This is not the norm i assure you. If this is attempt to convince the developer that this event shouldn't be adjusted and is fair you are wrong. This event is very difficult to complete without using mountains of gems. Unless you having amazing luck like yourself and there aren't many of you.
I am playing on 3 devices, all 3 devices got the 9/10 within the first 6 hours of the event(using gems). Then all of a sudden things changed drastically, i have gem'd about every hour on every device since then and NONE of my devices has received the 10th gem. I know when i will have a better chance though, and that's the last few hours of the event. For the developer to say that these odds aren't changed at the beginning and end of events like this is ludicrous. It's not voodoo we are making up, so maybe this developer needs to speak directly with the programmers so he can become aware of what we already know.
These events are part of a holiday series of events, it's the season of giving. GREE only takes, and it's getting old.
I can assure you, i will do everything in my power to warn every guild member of the guilds i'm in about these events and wasting gems on them. I'm the guinea pig, and have learned how GREEd actually works now.
Thanks for the holiday spirit, GReeINCH

Cj, please answer this question. As i know from my experience and many others, we feel cheated.
Odds are unknown clearly... but these are just numbers and are what you would expect each options chances...
Odds for a free open:
75% Empty/10% Gold/10% Honor/5% Item
Odds for a gold open:
50% Empty/20% Gold/20% Honor/10% Item
Odds for a Gem open(100%):
40% Gold/ 40% Honor/20% Item
The above is what you would think the odds look like when opening boxes... but from my experience(in this game and many of your others) as well as many others... the below what we observe.
Odds of a free open:
75% Empty/10% Gold/10% Honor/5% Item
Odds for a gold open:
35% Empty/20% Gold/15% Honor/25% Item
Odds for a Gem open(100%):
45% Gold/ 45% Honor/10% Item
There has been many many times where i complete the events using gold opens only... within, for example, 40 boxes. Lucky me... But there are many times where i open 40 boxes with gold to complete 9/10 Items. After that i use Gem opens and the odds of an item appearing seem to be cut in half!
Why is it so hard for you guys just to list the chances during the event? If there is only a 1% chance to get an item using Gem opens, at least warn me! So much bad rap you guys get could be avoided so often its embarrasing... The lottery lists your chances on every ticket you buy... but with you guys you keep it a secret... Clearly that is gambling even more so than playing the lottery.

And this is the reason why NO ONE should play the box events! It is gambling, and the odds are on the house to take all your gems, and the better you do the more they will start to take from you... To even have a system that makes it get harder when you get close is criminal at best, even Casinos don't (and are not legally allowed too, odds must always stay the same and be posted) do that....

It makes no sense that I am spending over $100 Canadian dollars and someone else is spending 0$ or getting 10 straight. I used to love this game however I find it more and more difficult to like this game. It's a game. Not gambling or the casino. If someone spends $100 they should get the item. Nuff said. It's bad enough you guys have the war event on thanksgiving and Christmas.

It's all about getting us to buy gems with the Illusion of Winning, very sad state of affairs , i would have just assumed those using Gems would have gotten the unit/coins way before "Free" players did, ireespective of chance considering we use a Gaurentee open, but its not a Gaurentee Coin i know,
it just comes across as "G"etting "R"idicolous "E"very "E"vent.
this event along with others will be long remembered and players wont spend !

You are contradicting yourself. First you admit that the percents of said item earned decrease. Then you say it's a flat percentage rate. Then you say results on a small sample size but the chances don't change during an event.
I have done my research an I am calling you a flat out. BS.....I have a large sample size...taken from many guilds and friends combined.....I don't care what you say. The percents change during the course of the event. My numbers back that up.
I have nothing more to say..........

Odds are odds. It is not a guaranty. Just because there's a 10% chance you'll get something doesn't mean it will come up 1 out of 10 times. You could bet on the same number 1000 times on the roulette wheel and still not hit your number even though the odds are 1/38, or ~2.6%.
Unlike other events, box events are gambling events. Some win, some don't.

So you spent a Mountain and did not get the unit...but you resorted to gold and got the unit ?? Then why spend the gems ? It seems a waste to me! Why not just keep your gems for so etching worth while ! Raid Boss event or war??
3 days of gems for nothing mmmmm....no logic in that!

So CJ are you saying that if a player wins a big item on say a scratch event their chances of winning another big item either on scratch or another event are drastically reduced?
Or is it just if they have 9 coins out of 10 you have a much further reduced chance of winning the 10th?
Also if I get 10 this time by some miracle, I might as well forget about going for the next box event because statistically I can't win?

I thought it was common knowledge that the last 24hrs of the box event becomes easier. I.e the odds increase. Or so it seems anyway from my experience. I received my 10th unit this morning with 22hrs left on the clock. This was also the same case for the previous Box event. I got my 10th again in the last 24hrs. All with no gems. I think you have to be patient and if your still at 9 with 1hr to go then use gems I would say. Good luck guys

I have had to use all the GSP extras on stuff can't let the freebies go to waste!
And as Rastlin states I have made a lot of friends here and will stick my nose in most times but not all times......gives me something to do constructive like Helping other Forum Members out rather than trolling others post
Now all we need is Gree to bemore like me and post regular in regards to threads and Updates
I am guilty too. I "won" the game and got sucked back in because of the people.

OK just so i can understand this fiasco.....
the more you win the lessor your chances..but if you Gem..you are Gaurenteed an open but not the Coin...but if i was to open more jars than a free player then by "Chance" i should have more Coins given my open rate would be 4-1 or 3-1 minimum, So opening more give me more chances...well one would think this the case but NO
irrespective of how many gems you spend on this event , you still want get the unit....this is just smoke and mirrors by Gree, i have read so many posts and did the test myself...shocking..CJ stated that the more you get the less chance why is it that FREE players had more Coin drops than those using GEMS ???
Please explain this then i might comprehend , cause to me Gree is just Pilfering our Gems and giving us useless units that wont make an ounce of difference !

That wouldn't work either as I'm sure there are over 90% of players who don't visit the forums or are simply lurkers. The ones that posts are usually the ones that are complaining about something. When everything is fine and dandy, they don't usually make a big fuss about it.

A Chance is still only a chance. It's no guaranty. Hypothetically, you can flip a coin 10 times and not hit tails once, even though it is 50/50. Unlikely but it can happen.
Perhaps there's a timer involved in the equation as well. For example, when you just received a coin, the percentage of getting another one immediately drops to 1%. Then as time passes, that percentage starts raising, up to a certain percentage based on the number of coins you already have.

AS PER CJ54
We do tweak things between events (we tweak just about every event, whether it is collect 10 or boss difficulty or drop rates or whatnot, to see what works best). And in collect-10 or collect 20/25 events (but not leaderboards), getting one of the special items decreases the chance of getting the next one
as stated your chances drop or decrease with each Coin you get therefor players getting more should get less and less more..but with Gems you can open more but not get Coins as by Chance..therefor why use gems...this was my argument..if CJ had posted this years ago , most would not have used Gems, as it makes NO difference to getting that specific drop..but does Gaurantee a drop of something...varies as No# of units available....hence why a lot got 100 stat unit wort virtually zilch to most ...if LLP it may be different...most finished with 9 some with 8.
My gem player with HLP finished with 8 only and LLP 9 with gold open..so go figure ...and statement still stands WHY spend Gems...obviously not worth 1 iota for useing gems....just waste giving them back to Gree unless you wanted the useless units
