Costs about 1000 gold to do from empty, but less if you're full and wait until towards the end obviously. The XP is very low so worth it if you don't mind spending.

Depends on your stats and how long you plan on playing the game, it's a 270k attack boost for me, but the 5% will compound on every unit from here on out. My opinion, it is.
