View Full Version : The arena matching system is a disgrace.

It shows how desperate gree is to squeeze money out of us. I'm in top 100 ATM. I usually end up fighting ranks 80-150ish for the first four or five battles. After the fifth battle I would run out of energy. I waited my hour came back and noticed I was now fighting top 20 opponents.... Not that the armors for me are more difficult, I'm luck enough to have my epics maxed but for people who struggle with top 150 it is an obvious ploy to make them save double downs. does this happen to everyone? I ran the same test a five times. Same results. Has anyone else noticed this? If so I have lost what little respect I have for this money obsessed company.

I notice that if I lose 5-6 times in a row next time I enter the arena it will match me up against much weaker opponents, sometimes even ranked 0. Once this happens I double down as much as I can before running out of energy. I used this strategy last week to finish rank 190.

Very interesting. I usually win 6 in a row then it pairs me with top ranked players. What is your lineup and what levels?

The same happens to me and when faced against opponents with 2-3 nearly maxed epic armors I find it hard to compete.
I'm level 100 now, but last week I was ~90. My lineup I use in the arena is Combustion (maxed), flowstone battlegear + (maxed), and Moontide (70). As you can see, nothing special yet I still managed to get ranked 190 last week.
If your lineup is too strong to lose about 5 matches in a row you can just switch out to a weaker team, lose the 5 matches then switch up to your strong team once you see that the arena has matched you up against much lower ranked opponents.

I never counted it but i have noticed if i'm on a losing streak i go back and its guy i can beat with my eyes closed, but ever since then the arena doesn't really appeal to me all id want is to get each medal once, just for the achievements.

I don't try for medals any more, just can't be bothered to fight that much,. I've found when I get to around 1500th place I can't complete an 9-run double down, as I'll always get someone with insanely stronger armors around the 5-8th fight, or I'll lose a fight due to our rotations not matching to my advantage, or even just missing several hits during the fight.
This week I've just been doing individual fights (after reaching the top 1500), and am hovering around 1200th place. With a little push I could get in the top 1000, but the difference in rewards don't justify the effort, and being tied to clocking in every 75 minutes.
I also battled a few friends this week to push my score up, but not a fraction of what I could have done if boredom didn't set in so quickly.

Yes, if you win most of your battles you'll be pitted against higher ranking. If you want easier opponents, equip some basic armors and lose a bunch of fights. When your list resets you'll have an easier list. Really, the key to getting in the top 100 is fighting your friends. Fight them all, delete enough to fill the requests that you get (you'll get quite a few each day when above rank 1000), fight your new friends. At least, that's how I did it on Android.

Sure, it's mildly annoying that a for-profit organization would try to earn a lot of profit in less-than-honorable ways, but think about this...
...what is so special about this game that keeps you around? There are tons of legit free games out there. There are amazing free games for your PC. If you need something for your phone or tablet, there are games of all types out there you can play for free that don't even ask you for money.
I'm not taunting you. Not telling you to move on.
Serious question. What keeps you around?
Asking myself that question, it's difficult to answer. I guess I like levelin' up n' stuff.

I think that's just part of the game. If you have a little too many winning streaks, you're hey match you with higher ranked opponents. I emphasize higher ranked, not more difficult, because sometimes I encounter knights ranked above 100 without a single epic armor, and with ridiculous win streaks, and I have no idea how they get there (gem spending maybe?).
Once as a 300 something rank, I had a good streak and they bumped my opponents to 100 somethings. I got lucky and defeated a few more and I got bumped to single digit ranks.

Lol not a complaint about the game on my part, but a complaint about the awful money hungry system implemented by gree. As I said I have no problems in the arena but it is obvious that it is geared to take gems away from players who are borderline elite. It's just sad almost every aspect of this game is tailored to take gems. That being said I still love the game, I just wish it was ran by a more straightforward, open, less money hungry company.

When I try I can usually hang in top 150 and I have no epics. Part of this may be due to the fact that I screenshot
Almost everyone I fight in arena and guild war and tend to target any that match my files and counter accordingly.
Also while I may not have an epic, I have a very nice max 4* collection and I regularly get new boss + each week
The only people I tend to have problems with are those with multiple epics.. and I also have noticed the matching systems bias

But it's not a incomplete game.... And there is no extra content available for purchase. They essentially have taken their in-game currency and made every aspect of the game bypassable if you use enough gems. That's all I'm pointing out. Your argument is off elsewhere...

It alternates like this:
Around 30-35 matches of fighting people NEAR your LEVEL (within 10 levels of you)
Around 30-35 matches of fighting people NEAR your RANK (within 100 ranks of you)
And then repeat.
