I, and others, have posted idea along these lines in many threads at many times but when thread are generically about things that would enhance the game, or what we think of recent changes or whatnot, it is easy to lose track of all the good ideas out there. So i thought i would try a thread on a single idea that i think would make the game more enjoyable for all of us.

Repeat match-ups in war. We don't like them. We know they became grossly overabundant when Gree changed the matching system to give FUN shorter matching times. We also know that, despite what they say, the changes they make in the game ARE all about getting more money out of the big spenders not making the game enjoyable for everyone (see http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/195806/ ). However they have come in the forum to day otherwise. So I am trying yet againtdo suggest something that would improved the game for everyone... Except it may slow matching times at the top again, I don't know. But if so, if they are not liars, they will make changes like this that are for the good of everyone but the top 0.1%.

So my idea for limiting repeat match-ups in the same war is twofold: First, once matched with a guild, no matching with that guild again for at least 24 hours. Second, no matching with the same guild more than twice a war.

That's it. Simple. More guilds might get matched with the likes of FUN/RK/SB this way, but they wouldn't have to endure any of those guys twice in a row, nor more than twice a war. Even guilds you don't mind facing as much, it is kind of a drag to face them 4 times then twice in a row, etc. this change would make the game more fun for the masses IMO. What say you all?

I would also love to hear other ideas for how to reduce repeat match-ups that might be better than mine. :)

I wouldn't mind no repeats for a day.

I also wouldn't mind removing the declaring system and going a predetermined battle list. Granted that forces everyone into 72 wars however. Or instead of a straight ladder system have guilds be put into either tiers or brackets.

Tiers based on attack/defense.
Brackets used randomly then later wars use a tournament style winners vs winners and losers vs losers.

Much more complicated to program and organize but heck, people have created tournaments before in other worldly events. Olympics anyone?

If the current system is here to stay then what about taking win/losses into account for matching. Obviously teams like Fun are undefeated but will still face teams that may only have a few wins.

The wrench that's throwing off the "best match" is the fact that not everyone is available to start battling at the same time. It's quite easy for only one team in the top 25 to be looking. This matchmaking goes automatically into the top 50-100 and so on. For more matches based on averages, shorten battle times to 30 minutes, or 45. Then give everyone a mandatory 3-5 minute wait between matches to find the best available. Again on not programmer and have no idea what all this may require but they are just ideas. Let's build off them.

Well said! I think a matching based from maybe the average of the members stats? It would be a nice change from a top ten three times...

I think there is so much difference between a challenge and the fact that it is frustrating to get the same guild killing us multiple times. Granted when we get the same little guild matched up to us we in turn destroy them. It would be nice to see them closer to us in stats even if the cp is different.
