short rant on guild wars

When guilds were first introduced I was really excited. My brother had a guild on the IoS version already, and it seemed really cool, especially with the wars. If you were a good guild, you could win more armors and rewards. It was really fun at first.... but not anymore. I really have lost a lot of my original interest in this game, because of the wars. You have to spend so much money to get rewards. It isn't even a matter of who is the best, its a matter of who will spend the most! And then, on top of it all, Gree goes and makes the only good rewards the rewards for the top 10, which makes everyone spend all the more. It is getting a little ridiculous. Dark Knights have over one million points already after two battles. I'm happy for them, but at the same time, where is the fun in something like that? It totally defeats the purpose of the game.

They should either make new legendary armors for 11-50 or just give them a ton of fusion boosts. This game is a spending game. I guess we stop *****ing. the game is broken with all the plus epics anyways but I play because I love the guys in my guild and to me that's enough and also I can play the game every 3 hours or so and not be behind.

Inflation is getting ridiculous and if past precedent serves as a measuring stick, it will get much, much worse.

Alright, I could totally see that. That does sound fun, and for the price you might pay to see a movie or grab some beers, well worth it. We also scored a good win, but it was in our first battle. The frenzy came and they scored almost 10k in a few minutes. After the win, spirits were high in the guild. If I had the disposable income, maybe I would be there too, alas the budget of a student does not comply.

Forumers are often complaining, but I take it as the sign of a good game that we can both have fun, and I have to admit, your 'movie and a popcorn' sound a lot more exciting than mine. We're mostly a free guild, but still hanging around 50, and that's great to me

I personally enjoy the fact that this game is pay-to-win and there are people out there who spend $100+/week.

This is how capitalism works, my friends. Smart people offer something for sale, and then dumb people buy it.

Usually, though, enterprising profit-seekers deliver a market need to consumers. Like food and clothing. But in this case, GREE and IUGO created nothing, really. They made moving pictures. And the people who spend hundreds on this game buy it up like gold.

It's really no different than someone who spends hundreds of dollars buying those silly stickers on LINE. Another example are the people who've dropped $99.99 for a sticker of a golden joint (http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2013/08/06/snoopify-app-sells-99-99-digital-sticker-people-actually-buy-it/) on Snoop Lion's Snoopify app.

These people paid $100...for a .jpg.

And that is essentially what the people in this game are doing when they spend hundreds of dollars...collectively, as a guild, thousands of dollars...they're buying animated gifs.

I don't like the way one can overspend his money to absolutely dominate the war. Where's the competition? In how much you are willing to spend and you can afford to? Maybe poker is a better game for that.

I think there must be a limit on the number of energy refills per battle at least. It's ok using gems to refill, but it would be more fun if the whole war was more about group coordination, instead of having the luck to get an insane spender as a guildmate who can alone win a war.

One spender isnt going to put you up into the t10. Not by a long shot. To get t10 you whole guild needs to theow down 800gem minimum

I am not sure about that. We only have 4 gemspenders right now, and we have about 5 people who are getting kicked after this war for inactivity, and we are in 35th. I am aware that is not very close to 10th, but if we had everyone spending, we would be in top 10. And that is just ridiculous that everyone needs to spend 100 dollars to get an armor in a GAME. And those armors will be obsolete in as soon as a month.

If we had 40 people in our guild, we probably would be that good too. Unfortunately, we only have 29, and 5 rarely play, which is why we are restructuring after this war. For only having 24 people who play, and 4 who spend gems, 32nd place isn't bad.

It doesn't really make much sense actually. At the same time booting and promoting players during war would cause so many other problems.

You would see players complaining about how guild masters or HCs who were trolling have kicked them before they got their rewards even though they participated.

Also the whole point of not being able to promote or demote is part of the strategy of guild wars - you decide before hand who would have the best use for it and assign it accordingly.

Yes, my guild was defeated by gem spenders in the lower rank and farm my guildmates for warpoints. My concern is that there are high ranking members in other guild that I fought and they were able to gain a very high warpoints against lower rank members in my team....

Looking over the leader board the rankings have become really stratified. Those below 15 have all but stopped. How many gems they spent to reach that point is anybody's guess?

And there will be four teams who will have spent a ton for nothing as well. Some lessons are better learned the hard way.

Seriously, you guys should consider changing to Android Platform. Right now, the leading guild at Android has 10 million less points than you, and their score is DOUBLE that of the #2 android guild. See my thread:

From what I understand the scoring is quite different on different platforms. I wish I understood how the scoring worked at all. Right now (andriod) I can defeat a player and get between 150ish points to 300ish points. I can defeat the same player 2 attacks in a row and get 150 points less one attack than another and 0 reasons why.
