Get stronger for what??? Come new event issues with stats! Why???

Why whenever a new event rolls out... I lose over 300k in stats? It actually fluctuates when I exit game but does not become stable till end of event most of the time! What's the point of getting stronger to prepare for these events?
Hope a moderator drops in to shed some light on this...
