View Full Version : Lvl 3 armor crafting
Is it me or is lvl 3 armor crafting extremely pointless? Lvl 1 armors are great for fusing and then enhancing, Lvl 2 armors are very good for enhancing, and lvl 4 armors are useful for attempting to fuse epics.
Lvl 3 armors are absolutely useless in fusing since your chances of getting a 2 star are MUCH greater than your chances of getting a 4 star given all the possible 2 star combinations. Futhermore, its fairly pointles to craft them for enhancement considering they take 21.36 hrs to craft with a max armorsmith for 90 ep (not to mention all the material they take to craft). By way of comparison, rare armors take 1 hour and 48 minutes to craft. Thus, you gain double the ep by crafting rares vs ultra rares.
Possible solutions:
1) Reduce craft time to something more feasible, i.e. 6 hrs.
2) Make it so that when fusing 2 lvl 3 armors, the lowest possible outcome is another level 3 armor.
3) Significantly increase ep on all armors > 3 stars.

I think there is a place for the 3* armors in enhancing.
If you have the time and can use Spectral Captain Uniforms, it gives a cheaper way of enhancing already at lvl 40 compared to Fusion stones. In these lower levels Snakeskins are still cheapest. But when you are working on the Moontide or Cloudrange epic armors, using SCU:s from lvl74-99 saves you about 1 million of gold. BUT yes, it takes time as you need to craft 38 of the SCU:s...
The Swamp Shaman Robes costs 20% more, and therefore isn't as good. But for the new Tectonic epic it can be used for enhancing after lvl60 instead of fusion stones time permitting.
I craft the SCU:s or Swamp Shaman Robes when I know I can't play much for 24h. In addition to Snakeskin farming, I especially like farming on the Sunken Carrack, as if I don't get Ghostly Beard Hairs, I get Typhoon Gems, which I can use for Atlantean Avenger crafting. That armor also is good for both Moontide and Cloudrange.
Dark Prince/Infernal Lord armors are not as good as they costs twice/1,5times, but the two cheapest 3* do have their place when you have the time to do the crafting.

I understand that snakeskin armor are the cheapest way. However do you happen to know what would be the fastest way, if gold is not a problem for me?

If money is not a problem, then fastest is to use the Fusion stones. You need to have two basic armors and fuse them to the uncraftable 50ep armors. Please read this thread:
http://www.funzio.com/forum/showthread.php?52470-Armor-Leveling-Research.-Please-Contribute.http://
On that thread there are several readymade spreadsheet calculators with which you can simulate the costs/time for different levels of enhancing. I personally use from page 11 Nate R:s version. Unfortunately it doesn't have epics, but they are easy as the cost is 30k from lvl74 onwards.
Have also a look on the data sheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiQKRFnZ9_jpdEFtUUVnd2dQM1ZIX2IxT1RNZVlva lE#gid=9
It tells you which combinations make the needed 50ep armors when fusing.
