I am really looking forward to hearing from you and other guilds as they stagger across the finish line of this thing. This was a very interesting twist to the game; it turned away from how many times you can tap on the attack button, and leveled the playing field by removing or reducing the dependence on gem spending. Not sure Gree would like to hear about that part of it, but to their credit it added to the competitiveness of the game and to the level of thinking and participation required to succeed.

It's not my intention to downplay or dismiss the achievements of the top guilds in this and past wars -- the members of FUN and RK in particular deserve credit and respect for the way they consistently dominate the game and earn remarkable point totals. They have been playing the game according to the way it was set up, you can't blame them for being better able to get to #1 or #2 all of the time. Also I'm pretty sure they're going to figure this one out too and we'll be seeing them here before the end of the war. They are a very competitive and determined bunch of people.

Some things this quest did to shake up the game for all of us:

1. The prize could only be earned by teamwork and tremendous effort. It could not be "bought". International guilds had an advantage in that they could win more times in a twenty-four hour period than guilds whose members all lived in the same time zone. But everyone still had to work hard together to earn every win.

2. The prize was available to any guild and every guild had the ability to compete for it. It was not limited to a single winner, or to a limited number of top scorers; an unknown number of guilds could get the award. Many guilds approach wars knowing that they can't shoot for the top prize because they simply don't have the resources to do it; every guild had the same 72 hours and the same physical and mental limitations to deal with in shooting for Daleth.

3. The prize could be won before the end of the war, and could not be lost once it was won. These things changed the strategy and the feel of the war a lot. Knowing guilds would be fighting for needed wins at the end led us to push to finish as early as possible; knowing that once we had the prize we could relax made for a far different feel once we got it as opposed to having to sweat out the final hours of a war not knowing if we were going to be bumped out of our position.

These are just three of the things that I've been thinking about since this thing started. I'm not a scholar or game theory expert. I'm just a game player who had a lot of fun with the wrinkles put into KA by this quest. This is not going to solve any of the world's problems but it sure distracted me from them for a weekend. No doubt there have been some frustrations and the system is not perfect -- match times are clearly an issue that top-level guilds have to deal with, but perhaps that works as a handicapping and balancing force. But it has made the game interesting again, for me at least, and I'm sure for many others.

I agree this war has been the most fun I have had since the day the wars first came out. I had more pride and fun being in the first guild to grab this prize, than I had placing Top3 twice back to back (never thought I would ever say that). But like you stated, it wasn't just all bought, some real strategy also had to go into it.

Order of Dragon Knights - ODK now have 45 wins and our Daleth. Difficult to achieve for a top 10 team as people kept talking about. Which unless I'm mistaken we are the first of the top 10 teams.

We had a blast trying to make it happen with more strategy then we've ever had to use for other wars. Funny that our sister guild (DK2) achieved the 45 wins before us.... and with only 11 members :D

Impossible for some. Deck was stacked against us from pairings. Really didn't have a shot at it, but don't know why a 200 ranking guild was paired against top 25/50 guilds 75% of the time. Only time we fought guilds like, this at this pace, was when we gemmed it up and ranked 58; four wars ago. Quite depressing when you know your not going to win just from your opponents name.

Really seems if you want to get the unit as 'top guild', you need to drop a bit to lower regions and 'force' easier matchings.

We declared at the end to put a few "insurance" points up to stay Top 50 and our opponents are putting up HUGE numbers to secure their spot. They are a great guild and no Daleth in the inventory so I hope we put them over the top! Lol, when they've met in earlier wars both sides take most of the hour off. There's too many friendships across the barricades to do otherwise. The higher stakes this time meant that didn't happen quite the same, but some nifty shuttle diplomacy kept things to a minimum :)
