lets stop trying to improve the game for a sec and think about the forums.
It would be much better if you can make a bump button rather than having to comment saying ''bump''

Every idiot who thought they had something good to say will be bumping their thread. Annoyance factor-HIGH

Yes, it should be easier to put topics people have already read that don't contain any new posts at the top of the forum....

My title here says im a senior member. That's undoubtedly due to my superior bumping abilities. Wouldn't mind a button.

Although I don't think phpbb has the capabilities to implement this.

I'm sure someone has made it so. That is the lovely thing about phpbb the modding community is very large.

do u know how the indexing works in search engines? anyway, forums and websites grow with "fresh content" even if it is on the same topic discussed earlier. if you know even little about website rankings, search engine rankings and all that, as a webmaster, you will NEVER introduce such a grave digging button lol .. so dream on :)

OP is a stupid idea, but I think the forum should auto-lock ancient threads that they don't want people posting in (threads that would be considered "necroed" if bumped). Someone will bump an old thread, potentially starting a new topic of conversation in it, and then the mods/admins will come and lock the thread even with a new discussion in the thread. If they don't want people posting in such topics, how about you just have them locked automatically (e.g. within a year of no posts)?

now that's a good suggestion .. its called "posts pruning" and it works like a charm. keeps the website search engine friendly :)
