View Full Version : NGF is having a problem with matching system?

Over 2/3 of our rival teams during this syndicate war are top 100 and we've constantly matched against top 25 teams. NGF's never been anywhere close to top 100, so what's going on here....:(

After all we are still surviving and everyone is doing a good job. It's just...makes me feel like I've got to say something.

That just means that you have the stats and the potential for top 25.

Alice is right. The matchup system seems to be different than Red Light.. seems a bit unfair to us.

Matching is based on total attack not ranking as far as I can tell.

Pretty sure ranking has something to do with it.

It's still strange. Sure, we can beat almost every syndicate up to rank 75, but you would expect lower syndicates as being at rank 131.

Last war we were sitting outside the Top 25, and had an unreal string of Top 10s. And that was including trying to avoid the Top3. It's annoying since even if you're strong enough to get your hits in, a lot of your teammates might not be. Sometimes you're just unlucky though, cf. Gambler's fallacy.

We matched up NGF in our very first match last war, and usually it's a Top 50-ish team, so perhaps that might be when aggregate team stats play more of a factor.

I think we've had FC 3 times this war. Not to mention we've had SAS twice, and now we just finished up Rogues for the 2nd time. I think once you get past a certain point in the rankings it stops with attack and just starts throwing you into the top teams because in past wars it's basically been the top 10 teams fighting each other if we remember...

Hi Alice.

Let me give my opinion to your problem on why you believe you're getting matched with teams in the top 25 bracket when you hardly don't even reach the top 100.

If you read the walk through in the game for syndicate battle you should come across a paragraph which will specifically state quote
'Finally please keep in mind the specification for x (x being the area your contesting) will continue to evolve & improve over time'

The key word being specification.

Now at the beginning the match was exclusively based on the overall attack & defence of the collective clan as a guide to match up to the rival clan when a battle was declared.

Gree basically have added new specifications now when matching you or any other clan up & unfortunately are getting difficult matches as they are now also using the amount of bonuses unlocked by the syndicates as a way of matching clans, so more than likely you are getting matched that way too.

Now good luck on your battle & hope it helps understand why you are feeling a bit hard done by the syndicate match up.

This is what gree told me yesterday. Plus its same message they sent me when battles first started months ago.
Gary Martin, Jul 14*13:11*(PDT):
Hello,Thank you for your message about the Battle of Empire City match-ups. Here's what you should know about how this system works:
During the event, your syndicate will be able to Declare Battle. Doing will tell the system "We're ready for a fight", and the system will start looking for another syndicate to pair you with. Declaring battle will cost one Hideout. The system looks at the following to determine an appropriate foe:
1: The overall strength of your syndicate : The sum of your syndicate's power will be compared to the sum of the other syndicate's power when looking for potential match-ups.
2: The Syndicate's Battle Rank: This is based on how well you are doing in the contest.
3: How many match-ups you have had with the syndicate during the event. The system will spend 20 minutes looking for a match-up. As this time goes on, the parameters will relax slightly. If a match-up is not found in 20 minutes, your syndicate will have to declare battle again and the system will start looking again. When a match-up is made, a special UI will come up that will allow you to attack the other syndicate's members (starting with the defense leader if he has not been defeated). You will have one hour after the match-up starts to attack the other syndicate, during which time the other syndicate will also be attacking you. For this reason, it is very important to coordinate battle declarations with your syndicate to maximize the number of people online during an attack. What to do in the case of a difficult match-up: Due to the above system, you may face a variety of overall power levels (although they should be fairly close, especially as the event goes on). If you get a difficult match-up, you can attack the Safehouse of the other syndicate instead of the players. This will result in less points per attack, but remember that it will take more than a single match-up to decide the particular battle. The winning syndicates will be the ones that have the most influence points at the end, which means the prizes for this event will ultimately go to the most dedicated and best organized.I hope this information has been of some help.

Thank you all, just matched up with Criminal Mafia Killers #11 red light, and did find some targets. Seems the theory of sum of power works. Now I was wondering if top syndicates recruit weak members on purpose, so that they could easily match up with weak syndicates...

Thanks. We did bought some high level bonuses recently...like lv3 gun att, whatever, only want to make sure if it's only because GREE don't like NGF (maybe they don't)

Currently in 25th, and we are a dream matchup for FC/Rogues/SAS due the number of high level (250) players we have. We've faced each of them multiple times, but we've also been getting stuck with syndicates composing of entirely low-level players, which is even more annoying. Some of them make sense, e.g. BAN is hovering around top 25, but the one we're currently facing is almost entirely composed of low-level players. I'm not sure what place they are yet (won't know until the match is over), but their highest level player is 211, and the only have three total players above 200, whereas half our syndicate or so is probably above 211. They were losing before we even bothered to take their wall down simply from their failed attacks. If they are top 75 or better, I'll be surprised. FC is untouchable, but at least with SAS/Rogues I had targets I could hit for good points.

tl;dr I don't put too much weight in the aggregate stats part of the matchup, or if so, it's very loose.

They surely don't like any none gold spenders but a whole synd they maybe on a sly one after seeing that you're getting great stats with no gold spent, but just a guess.

The amount of times our syndicate has been matched up with FC, SAS, RG and the Indians I should have bought lube instead of gold!

Aren't you in a Top 10? Isn't that what you should have expected?

Yes it was, but we have faced all four of them at least two times each. At least our position in top ten is secure.

How much gold did you unleash on me during our matchup?

We've also faced FC/SAS/RG twice (when I was awake), and I think we matched Indians once when I was asleep. Could have faced SAS/RG at least once more while I was sleeping, I'm not sure. Guess there's not too much difference down the ranks, I guess.

Not much, only ~100 or so. Perhaps I'm remembering incorrectly, but I think at the time of the matchup we had fallen pretty far out of the top 25 (800k?) and I wasn't in a big gold spending mood, but we've bounced back since then. Thanks for not changing your name by the way-- I had thought you went to Sunnyvale.

How many shots did you take at me? I think that was my first matchup in the morning and I signed on halfway into it, so I couldn't tell if my W/L changed during that battle or before it.

I'd used up my allocated gold by that stage and my free hits were given to one of your members who is just under level 200 so I didn't get much return. I noticed a former member of TGR in your crew, good guy, glad you guys picked him up.

All in All a good war, now the wait for the prizes :)

Is that Bernie? If so, he's pretty funny. I actually tried to grab Zeppe, but it seems he followed you to OGK. Congrats on your presumptive top10.

Ye the match up system seems all over the place. We got matched with SAS. They took 970k+ points off us.
