Tournament of Factions: Question about adding new members

I have noticed guilds are adding players during the tournament. When a player is added do the BP's acquired prior to the addition transfer to the guild total or do the points start after you join? In my case I have 460K BP's, if I join a guild will those transfer to the total, am I reset to zero, or will I keep them but, they don't transfer to the guild?

They are transferred to the other faction I believe

I know what they have gained when not in a faction is added to the new faction total. But I don't know if it transfers if they leave and join another.

"Private Parts" earns 100,000 points as a member of The Parts Factory.
"Private Parts" leaves The Parts Factory for The Private Club.
The Parts Factory gets credit for the 100,000 ponts "Private Parts" earned while with them, and "Private Parts" takes his 100,000 points to The Private Club.
But, The Private Club simply gets "Private Parts" to help them make MORE points, they don't get credit for what "Private Parts" has already earned.
"Private Parts" earns 100,000 more points while a member of The Private Club.
The Private Clun gets 100,000 points, and "Private Parts" now has 200,000 points.

Dude wasn't in a fiction. Dude earned 10,000 points. Dude joins your fiction. Dude earns 10,000 points while in your fiction. Dude has 20,000 points, your fiction gets credit for the 10,000 points Dude earned while in your fiction.
