Odd things in Arena with my Jian+

I have been noticing a strange thing in my arena battles when it comes to my Jian+ armor. This armor is 63/70 and my guild has +7% fire and +5% water. I figure it would be pretty rare for others to have the exact stats that my Jian+ has at the moment. Yet, whenever I am in the arena and my Jian is facing another Jian, we always seem to do the exact amount of damage to each other. It is 281 for regular hits and 422 for a special attack, This doesn't happen every time, but it does happen the vast majority of the time. Just seems odd to me that we should have equal damage when we most likely don't have equal stats. I am wondering if there is some kind of bug in the arena or with the Jian+ armor.
Anybody have any thoughts or experience with this issue?

Someone was speculating earlier that guild bonuses may not be being applied correctly to opponents in the Arena.

I just did five arena fights and managed to hit Jian vs Jian in three of them. My Jian did 317 in regular hits to Jians belonging to:
****Dastardly (The Untouchables)
Dada (Unova)
Abby (Across the Universe)
Unless all three of those guilds have the same water/fire bonus, something is broken.

(Dada's hit mine for 248, the other two didn't get a Jian-on-Jian hit on me.)
