I've read the guides where they say that your player damage to mobs is:

HS + Best Weapon Atk + Best Armor Atk = Max Damage

Has anyone worked out anything more solid than that? I have 116 HS + 76 Weapon + 34 Armor. That's 226. To this point, I think I once hit a 210 but I'm still hitting as low as 160 at times. It seems the higher I get my HS/Weap/Armor the larger the gap between min and max damage becomes. Something like for ever 3 points my max damage increases my min damage only goes up by one.

I would like to know how it's calculated also. I hit anywhere between 210 and 290. It's so frustrating to attack a mob and you think one more hit will be it and you hit 50 less than normal and come up 1 or 2 hp short. I know the enemies have some imaginary defense number but the range of hits seems a little off.

Max Damage, or to put it another way, Max Attack.

Each mob has its own hidden defence score that absorbs some of your attack (if the mob had 0 defence then you would get 100% Max Damage each time).

But then . . .

There is also an "up to +/- 20%" (someone needs to confirm this figure) value that is included with each attack - this is why each blow can produce a different damage result.

There is no "+/-" to it. It's a strict minus. You never attack higher than your combined "Max attack" and that's what I'm wondering about. I've hit for far less than 80% of my max (which would be -20%) so to say it's +/- 20% is incorrect.

HS was nerfed months ago so that you no longer get 1 point of damage per 1 point in HS.

Nearer 0.5 now I find

Yes. I studied the change in my mob damage over a few months. Each time I increased my Hero Strength by 1, or got a better weapon / armor (better attack, that is), I noted the next 100-200 non-kill mob hit numbers, and averaged them.

The results:
+1 HS = +0.5 average mob hit.
+1 weapon or armor attack value =+2 average mob hit.

The variation is MUCH more than 20%. Right now my average hit is 238. The lowest is 204 and highest 272. That is 234 ±34. Which is 68 total variance, or 28.6% of my average attack. WAY high. It's a big drag.

Thanks. This is more the info I was looking for.

I'm with you. The other day I hit a mob for 322 damage and my very next hit was 242 for an 80 point swing. I agree that is too wide of a range. It's especially annoying when you swing 322 than hit for 242 and then have to spend energy to do about 3 points of damage. I believe your max hit and your min hit should only have a 15% swing.

I'm also doing an analysis of my mob hits. It's still a bit too early to say what the results are, but it looks like Zenobia is rather spot on. I don't see the same variance though.

My last analysis over 73 strikes (small sample, I know) I had the following values:
HS: 107
Weapon A: 57
Armor A: 34

Max hit: 168
Min hit: 126
Average hit: 146.2

The interesting part when doing an attack histogram is that there's no normal distribution of the hits. It rather seems to be random within a window. I had a peak in the 135-140 hit range with a count of 13 hits, but all other ranges had between 6-9 counts, so it seems to be just a random number subtracted to your max hit or something...

It's gonna be interesting to see now that I've leveled up and added another HS, to see what happens with my numbers.
